Now I don't believe that Sylvia is 'far gone in years' and i would say the mirror lies
and as for les - i would suggest that he is a also full of the joys of spring (maybe not feel like it after planting, re-designing and digging up a new garden in Uzumlu mind you

i suspect that Syl has been eyeballing the forum for quite a wee while

You are VERY welcome syl and give my warmest regards to les

Hi

I am Sylvia and I have just joined your merry ranks for the first time today.

My old man (Les) and I came to live in Calis two years ago and have recently moved to Uzumlu. We consider moving to Turkey was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

I have just spent the past two hours scrolling through the site and many of the comments have made me laugh. Les would say that this is no mean feat cos I am miserable most of the time and that I am only happy when I have something to moan about ! ! This is simply not true...

I admit to being quite 'far along' in years, but  young at heart. When I look in the mirror, I see a well preserved Michelle Pfieffer (think my old Vision Express specs need changing)

Anyway, hello everyone and I look forward to being an active member of the Forum family in the future.

Syl

Hi Sylvia
As someone who is considering that area, can you please advise about the Winters? She that must be obayed says its too cold; we would welcome your thoughts. Plus any other information that could be useful to others? Many thanks.

Many thanks for all the lovely welcome messages. Most appreciated.

Like your sense of humour Tony.

As for 'Braveheart', I can tell everyone that he does not look one bit like Mel Gibson, but he is Scottish ! He also has the distinction of being my Leslie No Mates only friend (kidding)

For those that do not know Uzumlu. It is so pretty & peaceful up there and only 20 minutes from town. Yes, it is colder than Calis at night, but up to now, we have experienced very warm & sunny days.

We moved from Aydin Kent Sitesi (near the Zakkum Villas).   Aydin Kent is a small complex of 12 houses and I think that when you are new here, you need the comfort and support of neighbours.(Turkish & English)

This was a really good start to our life in Turkey, but after a while we decided we wanted to settle somewhere else and perhaps build a bungalow and have a bigger garden.(both achieved !) We spent quite a long time looking at different locations but the first time we saw Uzumlu, we fell in love with it. We are now looking forward to seeing a colourful garden next spring , thanks to all the bulbs kindly donated by Mrs Braveheart.

Welcome to the forum Sylvia. Your place in Uzumlu sounds really lovely. We havent visted many places around the area but hope to do so this next year after we`ve settled in, Uzumlu is now on our list.
And just for the record to everyone I am NOT bald, NOT scarey and as for sharing a bathroom with him !
