Hi,
I have just seen that we can check-in up to 18 days in advance of our flight. Does this mean we can also check in our return flight at the same time - like Ryanair?
I'm hoping - if I leave it until a few days before - that I can do this and print both outward and inward boarding passes at the same time. Not sure if there is any advantage in this at Dalaman though. Is there?
Thanks in advance
:)

no advantage at Dalaman, Rachael had all her boarding passes to hand only to be told "theres a queue" by most people who also had checked in online

I would expect to queue anyway Ron because we will have cases to check-in. Having a boarding pass doesn't get around that unfortunately.
I think I will wait a while and see if I can print both legs before we go. At least I'll have the boarding pass ready when we eventually get to the front of the queue :)
Cheers

Stoop . we are book with Monarch , my bro-in-law is doing all the print offs for us, but cant print our return one , because we are going for 16 days, so he will try on the morning we go, which is Sunday, I was just wondering what would you do if you were going for 3 weeks, or more, would we have to get it done over there,
-
You can just check n at the airport I guess. Not sure though. You would need to check that.
-
The advance check-in is not on for us as we always take 3 weeks so the 18 days prevents us. However we do prebook our seat for the return trip. The advance check-in only works in the UK because of the "Express Baggage Drop".
-
They have an 'express baggage drop' in Manchester? No need to queue with those who have not printed boarding passes then?
Good news to me that.
I'll print off the home journey as well. It will save some time at the counter I guess.
Cheers for the info :)

Yeah, it's well worth it at Manchester because there is no specific Dalaman check in as it is shared with all Monarch's ZB flights which are numerous. The opposite applies at Dalaman where there is a specific Monarch Manchestwer check in and only few other ZB flights.

The last time I checked in with Monarch at Manchester the lady asked "do you smoke?", I replied that I did. "Well don't go through security yet, your flight is delayed for six hours".
Bad delay, good advice :)

Theres no point checking in online unless you want to pay the 6Euro charge to book a seat

Already booked my seats HM :)

There's no point booking a flight unless you want to pay the 200 quid that it costs!!

I did the online check-in a few weeks ago on a return flight to the UK. When I got to Dalaman the queue for the flight was enormous. I bypassed the queue and went straight to online check-in express bag drop off. The rep waiting there said I was the only one who had checked in online so far and it certainly saved me a lot of time and standing in a queue so I dumped my bags and went and had a leisurely coffee before going through security.
I don't think you can actually check in for your return flight until after the first flight has been completed in any event - I only went for one week but still had to wait a couple of days before checking in for the flight back down to Dalaman.
Each to his own, but I thought it was well worth it. As were the extra legroom seats I had pre-booked as a treat as I was flying alone!
-
My point was that if the only way you can check in online is by spending an extra 6 euro + per person then I am ok queuing as there are 4 of us. There are no 'free' online check in options and I have yet to be split up with seats when checking in. Having said that - when the two of us travel without the boys I would definitely consider the advice from Carolyn.
-
Carolyn,
I'll try and check in both legs just before we go and see what happens. If you can only do one at a time then I'll have to see if I can borrow a printer in Calis and check in there for the home leg - especially if as you say - you can bypass the massive queues :)
Sounds to me like it's definitely worth the extra effort :)
-
Stu, If your return flight falls within the 18 days you can pre-book and check in both ways. I'm still not sure of the value at Dalaman. Like you I have the same problem of being minus a printer at Violet.
-
I only book one-way, then return when I have had enough, I book my flight home, go to the internet cafe or bar with printer, complete check-in online and print the docs. never had a problem. Agree with Carolyn the on-line check-in desk at Dalaman is speedy and usually no queue.
The only problem I have with Monarch is their ambiguous website wording.
-
We booked in on line 2 weeks ago and took our luggage top the express drop off. However they said that we couldnt do that and had to queue anyway. It wasnt a long wait but pointless downloading the boarding cards.
-
I just checked with our Joanne (Works for Monarch as a No2 in cabin crew) about the Dalaman express check in service. She informed me that you do it via the Monarch Vantage Club check in desk. She and her family did it a week ago and proceeded straight to security and then airside.
I must admit that I didn't know that the facility existed at Dalaman.
-
Cheers Ken! Must try and check in both flights next week.
:)
-
We are going with Monarch too, so must try that. I hate the long queues at Dalaman.
-
Looks like it might be a bit hit and miss at the airport as to which queue you can
jump join. We have already booked our seats so if all goes well we should be able to check-in for both flights before we set off - and miss the queues :)
-
Is there a bag drop off desk for Monarch at Dalaman? Have already printed boarding passes for our return flight but we always end up in the long queues.
-
Yes there is
We used it when returning to uk in September
It was great ;D :D
-
They give you another boarding pass anyway. Waste of ink when we went!
