Just to say what a great turnout today. Many more stalls than last year. Hope all stall owners had a positive and prosperous day . Was talking to one of the organisers who was telling me about the gruelling effort put into making this a great day. Well done to everyone involved. Not only for locals but for anyone thinking of a holiday destination, look no further.

Super photos, Ronnie!
And well done everyone who organised the event - it certainly looks as though everyone enjoyed it - what a turn out!
-
I am so happy it made me cry.. After last year when the weather let us down, I am overwhelmed that it went so well... Well done everyone. Just..the promenade to clean up tommorow morning. Uzumlu fair, Sarnic fair. . Next Sundays car boot and you can all have a well earned rest.. Hope you all found time to enjoy it all. Love to you all. My heart is bursting with pride... Dont cry often as you know..xxxxx. 207 stalls today.. That took some organising... Xxx
-
Was talking to one of the organisers who was telling me about the gruelling effort put into making this a great day.
200 stalls all under cover - an amazing achievement. They must all be knackered.
PS Doesn't that sky look lovely :)
-
Over 200 stalls? Wow! And Ronnie said people were travelling into Calis from well outside the area for the fair. Now that's pretty special.
-
They are very special people...!!!
-
Yes Aisha, i met people who came were travelling hours just to be there today and i am sure not disappointed at all. The day could not have gone better and Mercury if you had something to do with today you deserve a pat on the back. Will need to the way things are going use the beach next year!
-
And all this from nothing - it was only a few years ago that nothing like this existed. Now it is a major, major event in the Calis calendar. The unpaid, often unnoticed efforts of those who make this happen doesn't get anything like the appreciation it deserves.
-
What a mammoth effort. Well done you lot your what makes coming to Calis worth while..
-
An amazing turn out, especially taking into consideration the weather that many of the organisers had to contend with yesterday. well done to you all.
-
Nothing to do with me this year. We are back in the UK now but still keep in touch with them all.. Driving Chrissie mad.. Xx
-
The people of Calis owe Peter and Chrissie a huge amount of thanks.. They started with a small idea of having a carnival parade.. This has grown to what it is now with the most fantastic committee members...and huge amounts of support from members of this forum and many many more people..
-
Looks like it was a fabulous success! Well done the 3Cs & all who supported them! Hope to be there in person some time! :D
-
:DWell done everyone looks a winner my only regret was not being there :D
-
Just back after a long old tiring day, with pretty much wall to wall sunshine.
Many thanks to all the stallholders, who had a fantastic range of goods for sale & to everyone who came & parted with their cash. It took Chrissie, Jan & I longer than ever to cash up at the end, but the good news is that it looks like we will have raised a record amount from this event. Chrissie & I will have a final total probably by the end of tomorrow.
A huge thank you to Erhan & Nalan at the Eyna, who did a soup & BBQ dinner for the whole committee FOC, I for one couldn't have faced coming home to prepare a meal, especially after yesterday's marathon preparation & cooking of 240 sausage rolls, aided & abetted by my lovely friend Maggie.
-
Wonderful news Liz.. Accountant extaordinaire.. Well done.
-
Over 200 stalls? Wow! And Ronnie said people were travelling into Calis from well outside the area for the fair. Now that's pretty special.
I spoke to people that had come from as far afield as Antalya & Marmaris today, both stallholders & visitors
-
It was a wonderful day, a truly happy occasion. Thank you to the organisers and helpers, you did a brilliant job.
-
When we stood watching all the children queuing to see Santa I turned to Pete and asked if he ever wonders if he's created a monster!
I'm just a small cog in the huge wheel of it all, Pet and Chrissie should be very proud. Feel privileged to be part of the committee, great bunch of people.
Hundreds and hundreds of people enjoyed a fab day. Almost everyone's status on Facebook this evening are about how much they enjoyed it.
Were so lucky too to have such talented artists, jewellery makers, cooks and creative people, without them there wouldn't be anything to draw the crowds.
Such a lot of money must have been raised for local children, street animals etching today. Just brilliant.
Thank you Erhan and Naylan at the Eyna for our well earnt delicious meal and toasty fire this evening.
-
We had a wonderful day and the weather was perfect. Lots of hard work went ınto makıng ıt a success. Well done and thankyou to all.
-
As stallholders I must say we had a great day. Lots of people turned out on a lovely sunny day.
A massive thank you to the 3 C organisers. Without their hard work it would not have been a success for anybody. It all seemed to go off without any glitches, and Peter was smiling ;D
Also thanks to Angel and her staff in the Nil Bar who kept us in coffee all day.
-
Ah, but they do ..get the appreciation (all those volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this happen) ,albeit yes, as you say, probably not as much as they should. It was my first year (both attending, and renting a table) and as such we took a walk the night before, the tables were all wet and it had an organized but gloomy look to it. But when we arrived on site at 9:30am it looked all so together, festive, bright! It was happening!! filled with energy, the volunteers promptly pointing us in the right direction. Even with the tables that were not set in their allotted space, it was fun to watch how everyone pulled together to make it work -good cop/bad cop and all. bravo!
So, one more time: from a 'by-stander' and a 'stand customer' -I salute you for a job VERY well done!-
I wish you guys had a 'wall of fame' of sorts after the event by Eyna's (or inside the charity store) with faces and names (and CBF handles) of all involved in making this happen so that if we see them on the promenade, the market, or wherever we could thank them personally...
salut! Jacob d.UPtown'r. 'Fethiye Living Local'
-
AA just want to say a huge thank you to the 3 c for making today possible.
Such a lot of organisation and hard work on your part.
Fab day had by all x
-

A visit to www.3cscharity.org will help you with some of that :).
-
I'm sure the 3C charity would love all this positivity to convert itself into a bit of financial support next time they have children who are trying to learn in a school that is about as well fitted out as a fairly run down shed. It does appear to me that people aren't so upbeat at those times about their charity efforts as they are today.

well said Ann. From small acorns and all that...
It looks like a fabulous day, congratulations to everyone involved.
-
It was a glorious day with not a parking space to be found by the time we arrived and then it took us three hours to walk from one end to the other.
Thanks so much to the organizers for organizing such a special and social event and to everyone who works so hard baking and making beautiful things for us to buy.
Looking forward to hearing now much was raised for the children.
-
I hear that you had a bit of luck Nichola. X

We bought our house here 12 years ago in the month of November and after completing the purchase we wandered for the very first time onto a wonderful seafront promenade which although beautiful, was desolate and honestly had tumbleweed blowing along our beautiful waterfront.
Today I stood in awe as I reflected on that memory and realised that without the vision of two people, Chrissie & Peter Clark and the hard work and commitment of a handful of hardworking and dedicated volunteers that this December day on Calis seafront would have been more or less exactly the same as our first day back then.
Instead, today there were thousands and thousands of people strolling up and down the promenade, people meeting, greeting, socialising and in some cases, making new friends. There were 207 stall holders plus at least 25 bars and restaurants doing better trade than they achieve on the best day in the height of summer (Bar & Restaurant owners, please feel free to challenge my perception) and hundreds of children having the time of their lives chasing balloons down the beach or meeting Father Christmas.
By the way, please don't let me paint a picture of some sort of Ex-pat exclusive event here, I would say that at least 70% of traders and probably more of the visitors were Turkish who were all having a great day enjoying everything on offer.
Wonderful I thought, just wonderful, as I stood on the promenade, preparing the hot mulled wine bathed in glorious sunshine while the smell and (occasional taste) took me back to our many Berlin Christmas Markets visits.
But there we were today on Calis Seafront and I wonder if Chrissie & Peter Clark, really know what they have created here? Sure it was a great day today, but is that all?
The ancient Egyptians often regarded immortality as people speaking your name long after you are gone. If judged by UK standards, today's Calis Christmas Fair is already up amongst the largest similar on offer anywhere in the UK and I believe that the event itself will live on for many years yet the name of its creators will be spoken about long after that.
-
Yes apparently I did ;)
That as well John :D
-
George
For me that is the post of the year on CBF. Simple wonderful.
Take a bow sir.

I googled this earlier on and would invite members to do the same for their area in order to see just what a magnificent achievement this is
-
Must say I agree with H.. George.. That is a week wonderful post... And you and Chris must be exhausted too.. Shame that The 3cs can't do the Carnival again next year but hey ho... They offered.. Xx

Such a perceptive unique Post George - you said it all
-
Fantastic news that it all went so well, and as said before Thanks go to Chrissie & Pete, and all others helping organise the event.
Wonderful turn out.
Cant wait until we are retired and can be involved with this wondeful charity :)
-
Thank you all for your kind comments and compliments. However, Pete and I may have had the idea all those years ago, but it was only that. It could not have been realised without the magnificent help of all of the committee, past and present, and all of the volunteers who have worked tirelessly, both in rain, wind and cold (with the occasional bit of sunshine) to bring the whole event together. We really do thank them as it would not happen without them and it woud still be just that - an idea.
This year, the event was so big that even with our committee and small band of volunteers, we were really stretched on the set up day and Fair day itself. Next year we do need more bodies on the ground and we would welcome any offers of help nearer the time.
Liz101, the 3C's accountant, has now finalised the figures and we are pleased to confirm that after paying all of the expenses associated with putting on the fair, which as you can imagine are quite considerable, we have netted a record total profit for the children of 5179.62tl. Thank you and well done everyone, it was certainly worth all of the hard work.
We do have some photos which I will be posting shortly. However, as we were so busy on the day, we do not actually have that many photos of santa's arrival and his grotto so if anyone took photos and would like to post them on here and also send them to me, we would be very grateful.
Thank you
Pete and Chrissie
-
An incredible total - simply astonishing !
Well done to all those involved.
-
Yes indeed a fantastic achievement. Well done

A well earned rest for the 3C's committee and volunteers at Eyna Restaurant after a long and tiring, but very enjoyable day
-
Well done all of you, it's humbling to see the huge effort you all put in for such a deserving cause. Thank you so much on behalf of all of us who (logistically) are not able to physically contribute. I really wish I could have been there! :)
-
I too wish I could have been there. Marvellous work from you all.
Look how much enjoyment you brought to everyone!
Lovely photos of lovely, kind and selfless people.
Outstanding amount raised for the children. Your sacrifices paid off big time.
-
Only reason I am so late in adding my Congratulations for a truly fabulous day is that I have been without internet for five agonising days ..... Embrace had a wonderful day financially and we all met so many friends and the atmosphere was amazing. Well done 3 c's all of you and a truly astounding amount of money made to help the needy children .Your hard work was certainly worth it . Well Done. x
