As stallholders I must say we had a great day.  Lots of people turned out on a lovely sunny day.

A massive thank you to the 3 C organisers.  Without their hard work it would not have been a success for anybody.  It all seemed to go off without any glitches, and Peter was smiling  ;D

Also thanks to Angel and her staff in the Nil Bar who kept us in coffee all day.

Ah, but they do ..get the appreciation (all those volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this happen) ,albeit yes, as you say, probably not as much as they should. It was my first year (both attending, and renting a table) and as such we took a walk the night before, the tables were all wet and it had an organized but gloomy look to it. But when we arrived on site at 9:30am it looked all so together, festive, bright! It was happening!! filled with energy, the volunteers promptly pointing us in the right direction. Even with the tables that were not set in their allotted space, it was fun to watch how everyone pulled together to make it work -good cop/bad cop and all. bravo!

So, one more time: from a 'by-stander' and a 'stand customer' -I salute you for a job VERY well done!-
I wish you guys had a 'wall of fame' of sorts after the event by Eyna's (or inside the charity store) with faces and names (and CBF handles) of all involved in making this happen so that if we see them on the promenade, the market, or wherever we could thank them personally...

salut! Jacob d.UPtown'r. 'Fethiye Living Local'

A visit to www.3cscharity.org will help you with some of that  :).

I'm sure the 3C charity would love all this positivity to convert itself into a bit of financial support next time they have children who are trying to learn in a school that is about as well fitted out as a fairly run down shed. It does appear to me that people aren't so upbeat at those times about their charity efforts as they are today.

The people of Calis owe Peter and Chrissie a huge amount of thanks.. They started with a small idea of having a carnival parade.. This has grown to what it is now with the most fantastic committee members...and huge amounts of support from members of this forum and many many more people..

well said Ann. From small acorns and all that...
It looks like a fabulous day, congratulations to everyone involved.

It was a glorious day with not a parking space to be found by the time we arrived and then it took us three hours to walk from one end to the other.

Thanks so much to the organizers for organizing such a special and social event and to everyone who works so hard baking and making beautiful things for us to buy.

Looking forward to hearing now much was raised for the children.

We bought our house here 12 years ago in the month of November and after completing the purchase we wandered for the very first time onto a wonderful seafront promenade which although beautiful, was desolate and honestly had tumbleweed blowing along our beautiful waterfront.

Today I stood in awe as I reflected on that memory and realised that without the vision of two people, Chrissie & Peter Clark and the hard work and commitment of a handful of hardworking and dedicated volunteers that this December day on Calis seafront would have been more or less exactly the same as our first day back then.

Instead, today there were thousands and thousands of people strolling up and down the promenade, people meeting, greeting, socialising and in some cases, making new friends. There were 207 stall holders plus at least 25 bars and restaurants doing better trade than they achieve on the best day in the height of summer (Bar & Restaurant owners, please feel free to challenge my perception) and hundreds of children having the time of their lives chasing balloons down the beach or meeting Father Christmas.

By the way, please don't let me paint a picture of some sort of Ex-pat exclusive event here, I would say that at least 70% of traders and probably more of the visitors were Turkish who were all having a great day enjoying everything on offer.

Wonderful I thought, just wonderful, as I stood on the promenade, preparing the hot mulled wine bathed in glorious sunshine while the smell and (occasional taste) took me back to our many Berlin Christmas Markets visits.

But there we were today on Calis Seafront and I wonder if Chrissie & Peter Clark, really know what they have created here? Sure it was a great day today, but is that all?

The ancient Egyptians often regarded immortality as people speaking your name long after you are gone. If judged by UK standards, today's Calis Christmas Fair is already up amongst the largest similar on offer anywhere in the UK and I believe that the event itself will live on for many years yet the name of its creators will be spoken about long after that.
