Hi
Can anyone tell me if they are selling these in the Markets and if so an idea of the price?
-
bought some for the granddaughter off ebay a good price
-
If they are selling them in the markets, there is no way I would allow my Granddaughter to wear them.
Best to buy a pair in the U.K that are tested and are approved for children. Safety is always paramount for kids. :o :-[ ;)
-
He asked for a price not a health & safety lecture : :)
-
He asked for a price, for a reason, he wants to buy some. Health and Safety not a big issue in Turkey. A child with a broken leg may be worth the cheap Turkish prices. ;) :P :-*

Hi Pumes - how much did you pay and can you remember the site?
Jacqui - most if not all of the shoes purchased in any reputable high steet store in the UK will have been manufactured in China, the same as the hooky one sold on Calis market. The ones sold in the UK are unlikely to be any better or safer than those sold in Turkey but they will definately be a lot more expensive. I thank you for your concern for the welfare of my grandkids, let me know where to drop them off next weekend as I would like to go to The Races ;D

Toys imported into the U.K by any country must adhere to our very strict rules and have the C.E. mark on them. Toys imported from China to Turkey do need any rules to be sold in the markets.

Nonsense. Turkey adopted the same import requirements as the EU (in respect of the CE Mark) about twelve years ago. If these skates are classed as a "toy" then the aptly named Toy Directive was adopted by Turkey in April 2004.
That said, there will always be goods imported that fall short of the required standard (false product testing, fraudulent TUV/CE marking etc) and you are just as likely to be sold them in the UK as you are in Turkey.

J.F. I have seen some of the toys for sale in the Market have you? My daughter was amazed when looking at them, some not safe at all and quite a few fake brands. If you want to buy toys for the kids you love, in Turkey, that is fine. We will agree to disagree. I will buy mine in the U.K.

I have a very good friend who works for HM Customs. Some of the tales he tells are frightening. He has confisgated numerous "branded" goods with all the relevant safety markings, on their way to very prominent and respected outlets in the U.K. which have proved to be very very good fakes. Just because an item is marketed and sold in U.K. Does not guarantee it's authenticy. It's a wicked old world out there.

Yes, I have a friend who is Manager of the local Trading Standards Office. They do a very good job of taking toys off the shelves that should not be there. It may be a wicked world, but i find it less wicked for buying toys in Scotland than in Turkey.
