Hi Pumes - how much did you pay and can you remember the site?
Jacqui - most if not all of the shoes purchased in any reputable high steet store in the UK will have been manufactured in China, the same as the hooky one sold on Calis market. The ones sold in the UK are unlikely to be any better or safer than those sold in Turkey but they will definately be a lot more expensive. I thank you for your concern for the welfare of my grandkids, let me know where to drop them off next weekend as I would like to go to The Races
Toys imported into the U.K by any country must adhere to our very strict rules and have the C.E. mark on them. Toys imported from China to Turkey do need any rules to be sold in the markets.
Nonsense. Turkey adopted the same import requirements as the EU (in respect of the CE Mark) about twelve years ago. If these skates are classed as a "toy" then the aptly named Toy Directive was adopted by Turkey in April 2004.
That said, there will always be goods imported that fall short of the required standard (false product testing, fraudulent TUV/CE marking etc) and you are just as likely to be sold them in the UK as you are in Turkey.
