Just had my water bill, I'm £86.00 in credit but my monthly direct debit is only £1 per month less, so what happens to my £86.00, do I get a refund... NO

Echogirl, you can DEMAND the refund at any time for ANY of the Utilities, if it arises from bills generated from a Meter Reading, or you can supply a Meter Reading yourself , in order to bring your account up to date. None of the Utility Companies are permitted to keep ANY overpayments, but MUST refund them upon request, & must inform you that this could lead to your account falling into Debit at alater date. It's your money, have it !!

Thanks for that Gordon, have just sent a polite request for repayment of my money.  This happened last year as well, so while people like me let them get away with it they're not likely to inform me, are they!
