Yes I agree, I was once bitten by a horsefly in UK and started to feel quite unwell. Their bites don't swell and there was nothing to see by the time we got back. I'd just felt a hot sharp sting on the back of my neck when we were out walking. I don't know what would have happened if my daughter hadn't popped her head round the bedroom door when she came home after a night out. I looked like Michelin Man, bloated like I'd been pumped up! I felt dreadful, breathing funny etc and then ended up at A@E for a couple of hours. Not nice. :-\

Was told by person in next caravan to mine in UK to try hand sanitizer gell after particularly nasty bites one evening in uk not so long ago and it worked very well. Handy too because it's available in hand bag size everywhere these days after mrsa panic of recent years. Hot spoon method also has worked for me in the past but both need to be done as soon as possible after the blighter gets you
