Fibre Optic - Good News (Hopefully)
« on: August 13, 2015, 11:21:26 AM »
I noticed over the last week or so that Turk Telecom workers were rodding a new draw rope requiring dig ups as well as person access points (manhole) work along a route of BBM from Gunlukbasi and then into and along the Upside Down Bridge Road.  Without going into technical detail - I know about these things!! - the length of draw rope they are pulling in was a long single cable pull, which strongly suggests that they are going to lay in a fibre optic cable... yippee I thought.   yesterday I spoke to the lads undertaking the work, and they confirmed Fibre Optic, but it was not clear when it would be pulled in and then installed into the various cabinets on route, but thumbs up from me and plenty of Cok Guzel, which seemed to please them no end ;D ;D.  Yesterday they had reached the cabinet on the bend/corner of the road by the Cemetry, and were starting to work up the road towards the bridge/canal near to the Nevada.

So watch this space, and I'll see what else I can glean. Oh proper super fast broad with (hopefully) guaranteed speeds, with no contention.

Happy days are coming tra la la la... don't take much to make me 'appy.

So they get pots & pans, sacks of coal and white goods in the East, however all it takes to swing an AKP majority in the South West is fibre optic broadband  :)

The vote here is not bought so easily, fibre optic AND a sack of coal would be required.

Ok, *you* ask him.  I'm buggered if I am, I might end up on his wrong side.  Oh wait a minute...  most uncorrupt, un-pious, non AKP supporters are.

Anyway, here's his new personal email address:  weereggie@shoeboxesrus.gov.tr

Don't get too excited,   :) It is only Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) so the same crap copper from your place to there, and true there is no contention to the exchange .....................but it is contended by the backhaul bandwidth and at the core! Vastly superior to old fashioned copper all the way though!

boring but technically correct if interested :(

They laid the cables along the road near us a couple of years ago, don't hold your breath.

Well earlier in the week I reported my suspicions that Turk Telecom had started the 'duct and civils' work for the installation of Fibre Optic for SuperFast Broadband in this area.  As you can see from the picture below they have now moved on to start drawing in the fibre optic cable itself....I'll keep an eye out for further developments.  ;)
