Lissa, Nesibe Sevgi Öndeş at Zentara is taking a fairly active role so if you want to be more involved then perhaps she would be a good person to talk to. Also you may want to join if you haven't already the relevant Facebook groups to get a better idea of what is happening and how you can be more involved.

There are already quite a lot of things going on although it does require quite a bit of digging around Facebook or to know people actively involved to find out exactly what, who and where.

In Ovacık collections of clothes have been going on for some time and these can be dropped off at Fads Turkcell shop opposite the new A101 (dangerously located on a crossroads by the mosque with no off road parking). Already people have helped sort these and they have been taken to camps farther afield. This is ongoing and offers of help will surely be appreciated.

EJ's in Çaliş have spontaneously organised the up coming run to the Dalaman camp and some people have donated food and clothes etc.

Nesibe Sevgi Öndeş at Zentara has been visiting the Dalaman camp relatively regularly it seems and her latest information has proved helpful in making a start in assessing their needs. There is also another bigger  camp at Ortaca a bit farther on than Dalaman.

There is an issue of communication, liaising with other groups and organising coordinated efforts that has been flagged up elsewhere recently to try and ensure efforts aren't duplicated and donations go where they are most needed. This appears to be a priority as the situation in different areas can change very quickly and the priorities and needs may change.

The week in the run up to Christmas probably isn't the best time to try fundraising or organising as people are more than normally busy. Hopefully in the new year...

These are the Facebook pages/groups I know about and I am sure there are others.

Thanks for all this info, Nicola. You are a mine of information. I have since been told that EJs needed more people to sort the donations out, as, so much was taken there. So that is great news!

On Monday a few of us are going to Dalaman again via the soba shops.

By the end of Monday we intend for 12 very much needed soba cookers to be fitted and ready for use at the refugee camp. It's bloody freezing here at the moment and rain is on its way so cooking outside on an open fire is going to very difficult.

If anyone would like to make a donation of even just a few quid that would be fantastic. My paypal account is on one of the previous posts.

There is also a food run from EJs cafe on Monday if anyone would like to make a food donation and feel free to refer to the list for ideas other than rice and pasta.

Thanks   :)

I would like to thank John F for his generous donation of £20 it is very much appreciated.

Today we visited the refugee camp after having to postpone our visit on Monday due to torrential rain, floods and road closures that prevented us from leaving the area, although not as bad as its been in the UK!

We had a day of respite from the bad weather today so we're able to take the sobas and more much needed food supplies, baby formula and nappies etc.

These were very much appreciated and it was good to see the children again and they had a great time as I've already reported on kayakebabs topic on the play and activities project.

Are the refugees still at Dalaman? Any idea how they are now? Not seen any news about them recently.

The refugees at the Dalaman camp were split up and dispersed to various other locations around Dalaman and Ortocar. Apart from these refugees there are other small camps around that area and also around Fethiye.

There is an ongoing voluntary effort to provide regular support mostly in terms of food supplies.

The two main Facebook pages are as follows and each has their own GoFundMe page:

Fethiye

Set up by Fads who is based in Ovacik this group not only supports local refugees with its ongoing collection and regular delivery of food supplies it also coordinates the donations of clothes and supplies from the UK to Turkey which are distributed to refugee camps all around Turkey. Quite a few members of CBF are involved with this effort.

Dalyan

Set up by Shaz who is based in Dalyan - this group initially set up to support the Dalaman camp has extended its brief to support any refugees in the Mugla area.

Make a Pledge!

Approximately 200 people including children and babies are being supported by local voluntary efforts and rely on regular donations of food stuff.

There is a pledge scheme in operation in this area. Basically you pledge to donate every month some food (this avoids constantly having to ask people to donate something) and just deliver it each month to either EJs in Calis or the Phone Shop in Ovacik. It is all sorted and delivered to those that need it. More people willing to make and deliver on a monthly pledge are desperately needed though...

Anyone not already taking part but would like to participate can contact Menthol for more information. I am sure she will be delighted to hear from you.

If you are not local but would still like to contribute then please make a donation to the Fethiye gofundme page www.gofundme.com/refugeesaidturkey

This list is intended as a useful guide, otherwise it can end up being just rice and pasta...
