Forgetful Lotto Man Scoops Double Win
« on: August 01, 2007, 15:30:17 PM »
From Sky News

A forgetful National Lottery player got more than he bargained for when he realised he had bought not one, but two winning tickets.

Derek Ladner bought one ticket but forgot that he had it.

So he went out and bought another with the same numbers - and ended up with two shares of the Lotto £2,395,710 jackpot draw on July 11.

Mr Ladner and his wife Dawn, 60, from Redruth, Cornwall, are celebrating the two £479,142 wins, a total of £958,284.

When the draw was made, bowling fanatic Mr Ladner claimed his £479,142 share of the jackpot, which was split between five winners.

It was not until a week later he remembered he had bought another ticket with the same numbers for the same draw.

Mr Ladner said: "It's beginning to sink in now, we're just trying to settle down with things.

"We are going to have a holiday at some point , do a few home improvements. We're not going to move house because we're happy where we are."

He described how, several days after realising his first ticket had won, he had bought another ticket for the next draw and put it in his wallet.

As he did so he saw another ticket sitting there - and realised what had happened.

A Camelot spokesman said of Mr Ladner: "He is the first person to have won twice in the same draw.
