I think this topic has been covered before but I would like to know if the price of new specs in Calis area,is cheaper than UK[?]Can I have an eye test in Calis,or,do I try and prise the last test results from my optician,and show it when I am out in September[?]

I had and eye test and varifocal(sp)designer specs last year. £226 all in. Well worth it in my opinion

i thought the law changed some time back in the uk whereby opticians had togive you details of your presciprtion.

£200 is about right for Fethiye, I think it is a bit steep, Hisaronu are offering this season varifocals at £89, could be worth a visit

Surely the price will depend on what designer label they have on them ?

I dont know, but for that price they can stick them in either my old pair or my current frameless ones.

Designer, is that a Turkish designer label or Italian designer label?

In September,2006 my wife obtained two pairs of varifocal spectacles from CEM Optik who are on a corner site on the main road in Fethiye roughly opposite the Central Mosque. Excellent service and wife very happy with the spectacles. Total cost was £270 with 'designer frames' (German origin). I am informed that the spectacles these replaced cost twice as much in the UK. CEM do offer much cheaper spectacles but the choice of male/female frame styles is very limited, probably do for a bloke but not a female.

I paid over the odd here in Turkey the first time, Never again. Cem optics did a great deal for my sunglasses, but even then I had to haggle them right to the knuckle.

It was getting to the stage where I was thinking of going back to the uk to get varifocal replaced, looking to be much cheaper.

I will give this glasses direct a go, maybe, I will try Hisaronu first, the pair on the link are £75 if they dont play silly beggers then £89(ish) will be a good price.

Thank's for the info everyone.My eyesight is getting really bad and I thought that tbe price of specs in Turkiye might be cheaper than UK .I now try to lipread when watching telly. :oI will need to go and get new specs,probably local
