New member introduction Hi All
« on: January 21, 2008, 15:28:14 PM »
Hello everyone I am Andrew and have been reading posts for a few months now and thought it was about time to introduce myself. My partner Michelle and I are looking to move to Turkey full time once our sale completes in the UK. We are keen to learn more and have fallen in love with the place on our visits there already. I am particularly interested to get your feedback on purchasing and for info on good agents, developers and lawyers as I am obviously a bit concerned to hear the problems Cef and others have encountered, I have to admit it has put a bit of a (are we doing the right thing) on our want to move, but I am sure with members help and knolwledge we can handle this transfer with some confidence as Turkey is definatley the right place for us. Kind regards  Andrew

Hi Andrew & Michelle.
You are lucky that you found the forum before buying - hence you are aware of the possible pitfalls.
Over 90% of sales go through with no hitches whatsoever.

There are 2 recomended agents on here www.assuredestate.com  - run by Keith & Yetkin and www.interturkestates.com  - run by Cenk & Olga.

I'm sure there are more agents out there that others will recommend. The 2 above will not & have not sold property on Tourist Land - where you might not receive a 'proper' residential Tapu  & where there might be problems later IF the powers that be decide to enforce the original plans for this land. The developers who are notorius for building on Tourist land are the large ones such as Hanel or Nicholas. Personally, if an agent has properties from these 2 companies on their books then it starts me wondering whose interests they are looking after?

Hi Andrew and Michelle, and welcome to this fantastic forum.

We have recently bought a lovely apartment in Calis, and like you, were very worried about the agent we would buy from.  Lagoon estates were highly recommended to us by people we spoke to whilst on holiday last year, but we eventually bought through Mete and Golden Moon Estates, who have been fantastic - just so kind and helpful.  Its all been really quick, and we are thrilled to have received an email last week to let us know that our Tapu is ready.  Just can't wait to come out in March to sort out the final bits and pieces!

Good luck - its so exciting, but also very nerve-racking.  It's certainly the best thing we have ever done and we have no regrets at all - other than we wish we could spend loads more time in Turkey - maybe in the future!  We had to downsize in the UK to enable us to buy, but I still feel as if we have won the lottery every time I look at our photos of the apartment!

All the best, Julie
