Hello everybody,

Just thought I would introduce myself.  My name is Judy and I live in Anglesey, North Wales.  My house is up for sale and have been seriously thinking of moving to the Fethiye area of Turkey as I know the area is very beautiful.  I am a complete novice as to how to proceed and would welcome any advice from ex-pats living in this area as to the pros and cons of my future plans.  Best wishes    Judy

Hi Judy
Welcome to the forum.
A piece of advice, be very careful who you purchase a property from, use a reputable estate agent, never pay upfront, if you have to pay a deposit (as is usual) use an agent who will insist that you deposit the money with a solicitor, if you are looking to buy off plan never pay the bulk of the money until the property is built and the necessary paperwork (Tapu and living permission) is in place and then only pay on exchange.

Hi Judy,

Crabbit is spot on with his advice!

Be careful but do not be put off by the horror stories you might hear. It can be done without much hassle as long as you use a reputable agent. There are a few on this forum that are recommended and I'm sure you will soon find out which ones they are.

Welcome.

Stu

Hi Judy welcome to CBF  :)

Crabbit has given very good advice, just be sure to check out the 'Solicitor' as much as you would an Estate Agent.

Choose an agent who uses both a UK & Turkish solicitor
