river snakes

We are in Hisaronu and i hope i never see a snake there i am realy scared of them,that is the last time i leave my doors and windows open, realy wish i hadn't read this

there seems to be many more snakes about this year we have seen 3
in the garden alreadythe last one was chacing a gekko and ended up in our pool
not what you want in your newly filled pool.
i have a picture if i can post it.

Yes we seem to have had a lot more snakes in our garden this year too.Maybe they are being disturbed by all the building going on in Uzumlu!!!.

Hi you guys. Haven't been on for ages, but just getting an update before we come next week.  Anyone who knows me knows I love snakes. I made enquiries when previously over about the river snakes and was advised they are non poisoness and harmless (although any snake would bite in self defence).I tend to try and catch any snake I find (just for the fun of it)then let it go again so I checked before I went to Turkey re venemous snakes and came up with nothing (though some locals tell me otherwise because they tend to kill any for whatever reason). I especially enjoy visiting Calis in May as this is when the snakes are most abundant (breeding season and they can't stand the very hot weather). It's ok not to like them, but please don't kill them. Snakes (even venemous ones) do not "attack" people, but will only defend themselves if cornered. I understand I might be in the minority here.(does anyone want me to bring my
boa constrictor over?)  But seriously,treat all snakes with respect and if unsure steer clear.

Thank you i will be taking your advice, and if i see a snake i will be gone, i do not like them but would never hurt one.

I think your research is wrong....there are venemous snakes in Turkey, one I think is the Levant Viper( stand to be corrected on the name as I am not an expert)

Google Search Venomous snakes in Turkey. Look for about the 4th link which is reptile.fisik.com.tr and click on that article.(for some reason I can't direct input the site?) It is very informative and lists 45 varieties in Turkey,not all necessarily in this part, of which about a dozen are classed as venomous or semi venomous. It is mainly in Turkish but you can still find a lot of information and there are several pictures to help you identify.
