The kids of today.
« on: June 07, 2008, 12:29:40 PM »
By contrast to all the negative comments we hear repeatedly about the youth of today
I went, last night to the local school to see the GCE art entrants show and was amazed
at the high standards achieved by the pupils. The subject of this years exam was "Barriers"
and it is interesting to see the same themes cropping up through the work as to what the pupils regard as barriers that divide us.
One of the examination board was there who said that the standard was so high they decided to hand out certificates of merit to some of the pupil's and my daughter Xanthe picked up two, one for art and one for textile design.
I spoke to the examiner after the show and was told that they had found the same high standards at every school they visited and in all subjects, across the board. 8)

For every story I hear about the youth on the street with a knife, I will also think of the majority of hard working and diligent youth who for some reason we never hear about,
all credit to them.  8)
