Changes to Kid's Forums IMPORTANT
« on: June 16, 2008, 10:47:22 AM »
This may not be the final decision but let's see how it goes.

The Kids Introductions and Kids Forums are now accessible to approved members only. That means at this precise moment they are accessible to nobody. Access can be given if a request is made directly to me. Current young members will have no problems being granted access based on past history (assuming they have used the forum responsibly in the past). Access is for under 18's only.

New young members will need to be the son or daughter of a current CBF member. For access they will need to tell me who the parent member is, and I will need to see both parent and child on the general CBF with matching IP's.

Of course there is nothing to stop a child signing up as a parent and a child, then playing both roles - that won't wash I'm afraid.

For now, it's this or goodbye to the kids forums, and until/unless a better plan comes along this is how it will be. I have made it quite clear that I don't want the kids forums to go, so let's see.

If a child has parents who are not computer literate they will not be able to join.

Could they get their friends parents to vouch for them??

This does not affect me either way I was just thinking of friends who  may want to talk (e.g From the same complex)  but who's parents are not members.

Tell me to butt out if it suits:D

Oh I nearly forgot - the option for new kids to allow other members to contact them via their profile will be switched off. All contact will be in the forum only.

Good point Heather - in such cases a REGULAR member can vouch for them, but that member needs to be well known to us.

Hi All
A big step in the right direction which sooner or later had to come. It will upset a few I am sure but it will work if you make it work.
Thank You Scunner and the Moderators.
