Blues with bite
« on: June 22, 2008, 12:51:38 PM »
On Saturday I was asked to play at a local beer festival to celebrate the longest day of the year, and as the British summer has set it with its usual ferocity the weather forecast was a bit hit and miss, thankfully the rain held off but it resulted in a lower attendance than was expected. As usual at these events the audience was more interested in the beer than the music and in an effort to get some sort of reaction from the crowd a few of us decided to join forces and attempt a vigorous rendition of "Let the good times roll", out of politeness we asked an aged (86 year old) former jazz musician to join us on stage to play the Tambourine.
Things went well for the first five minutes until the aged jazzer decided to play the Tambourine with his force teeth, he took them out of his mouth, held them up for every one to see and as he hit the Tambourine they flew out of his hand with the force of an Exocet missile and went flying over the heads of the crowd, of course we carried on playing ( the show must go on and all that ) while the jazzer rushed headlong into the crowd to retrieve  his gnashers and amid much laughter (and derision) the molars were found unharmed.
That was all that was needed to get the crowd going and a good rest of the day was had by all. 8)
