My wife had an internet based savings account with Cahoot(a subsidiary of Abbey National.)She decided to close this account and did so after telling the Abbey national to stop payments to that account from a specific date.She informed the feeder account(Abbey National)as well,to cancel another direct debit or standing order.The latter was done,but the bank took her money and paid it into the closed account(Cahoot).£100.She complained but received a letter today saying that the Abbey could not find this transaction(despite having been provided with all the necessary documentation).
How can £100 go into thin air?
