Hi all,

I have just joined the forum after being on holiday in Ovacik. My wife and I love Turkey and have many holidays there including Side, Turgetries and Turunc.

I am also think of buying a property in Turkey, although this won't be just yet as I will shortly be completing on an apartment in Hurghada (long story!).

I have been lurking on the forum for a little while and am impressed by how much useful information is on here, so I thought it was time to get involved.

When I was on holiday in Ovacik I noticed that there was quite a lot of property for sale in Calis and that the prices were very reasonable even compared to other areas nearby, especially given hw close the property was to the beach. I would be grateful for views on what Calis is like to go for a holiday or to live in. Suggestions for other areas to look at are also welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I think you will find that most, if not all, people on here will highly recommend Calis for a holiday, and for buying a property!  Though most of us can only dream about living in the property we have bought (at the moment, anyway!!)

You will love it like the rest of us if you decide to visit.

By the way, welcome to the forum.

Julie

I think most of us on here are biased towards Calis anyway, i've been coming here for 9 years, i bought an apartment 6 years ago, a Turkish friend talked me into buying it, best thing i ever did, i sold up in England 18 months ago and moved here, i loved coming here on holiday, and now i love living here, it's so laid back, nothing is ever rushed, or too much trouble, and most people are friendly and helpful, i don't spend as much now i live here, i couldn't afford to live like a holidaymaker, but i still have a good time, and i have now upgraded, and i now live in a villa a bit further out, i am now a 6 minute walk away from the centre. Hi Philip, welcome to the forum.

If you have been lurking on the forum for a while, you will have a pretty good idea about the general feelings of ex pats, holiday home owners and holiday makers. I fall in the second category, with an apartment in Deliktas, and yearn for the day that I will be able to make it home.

I am sure you will get very little negative response to your posting - good luck with your future plans.

Hi Philip,

Welcome to the forum.

We visited Calis, Fethiye, Olu Deniz and Dalyan on numerous holidays before deciding to purchase a property in Turkey.
We chose a lovely development right on Calis beach and have already stayed 3 times since July!
I am sure you would not regret purchasing here

Regards
Mark
