8oz Plain Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Bicarb
4oz Marg or Butter (I use buttter)
8oz Castor Sugar (or granulated)
2 medium apples (I lke it best when they are a bit sharp) Peeled (if you want) and diced
2oz Walnuts
2oz Rasins or Sultanas (I use Sultanas)
2 Eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
Sift flour, salt & Bicarb.
Rub in fat till fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in vanilla essence, sugar, apple, walnuts, fruit, and egg.
Add no other fluid, the juice from the apple adds moisture. It'll be a lumpy, fairly dry mix.
Bake for 1 1/2 hrs at 170c (which MAY be about Mk6)
OR, don't use the walnuts and use some almond essence, it's lovely.....[^]
