Drunken Sailors yok!
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:36:10 AM »
A ROW erupted last night after a charity removed all references to booze from the song What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor?

Government-funded Bookstart changed the 1891 sea shanty's main character from "drunken sailor" to "grumpy pirate".

Libraries across Britain have been sent revised song sheets with What Shall We Do With The Grumpy Pirate — to be used by parents and kiddies at council-run "baby bounce and rhyme" sessions.

Lines such as "Keelhaul him and pass the bottle" and "Round with the rum and scotch and whisky" are replaced by "Do a little jig and make him smile" and "Tickle him till he starts to giggle".

PC gone mad:D
