We don't get any hassle, they have been very nice people and have shown the utmost respect for our villa. Some have even left gifts while they were there , one sent a bouquet of flowers, when they returned and we still keep in contact with most of them. Even close friends and relatives can take advantage in your property, they may feel that they can get away with more, it is about an element of trust. We always wanted to have a nice place in Turkey and have been fortunate to do so but would rather have people in it than it lying empty for most of the year, hence the rental. This is what this topic is about, bookings for this year for those who rent out, although there seems to be the odd remark which bears no relevance to it, but it probably does not matter as its a good way to get posts counts up.

Yay - I got my first and probably only rental today. I generally get one a year and this must be it.

We rented our apartment out but wont this year because my hubby is ill and we don't want hassle. The only damage was done by a friend who took her boyfriend with her and managed to break a marble work top. For property we rent in uk damage was caused by a friend. I agree with the comment that it is not only strangers that can cause damage. We have no bookings this year.

I haven't rented out my apartment before but I would like to cover the annual running costs if I can.  I know from past experience how difficult it is to find suitable accomodation for someone in a wheelchair but as my daughter is a wheelchair user our apartment has been adapted for her use with an access ramp, wheel-in shower, non slip flooring, etc). Please bear me in mind if you have an enquiry from someone who is looking for adapted accomodation. As I said I'm only looking to cover my annual running costs so I won't be advertising (apart from now) or renting out to "able bodied" (I hate that term) guests.

Do'u'know Steve, I had to turn down a guest because our apartment wasn't suitable; they had an autistic son.  I wish you'd put this thread earlier.  They'd booked thier flights too.  If I can find thier information, I'll pass it on.

Incidentely, our bookings are about the same, 6 weeks or so which covers the ongoing cost of running our apartment.
