To anyone thinking about relaying a lawn you need to rotovate the area and then use a good nitrogen base fertilizer don't use any cow,goat or donkey turd to feed the soil as you will end up with loads of weeds.
After tilling and dressing the ground roll it lightly rake it and then sow the seeds, how you keep the birds off is your problem. 8)

We had loads of goat droppings for fertilizer, we have had some weeds, but not many - in fact we probably have more weeds in our garden back here!!
