Hello Everyone,
I am soon looking to buy a property in Turkey and in particular the Fethiye region,I have found several properties in Deliktas that look quite appealing could any one give me any more information on this area as I don't know it, it says there are minmarts closeby but does anyone know if there are any bars restaurants or other shops nearby, is it derelict during the winter months or mainly residential and are the resident Turkish or foreign. Do dolmuses run to the main towns and how far from Olu Deniz and the main town by bus or car.

I would really appreciate if any one has any photos of this area and advise

Hi Linzi

We have a property in Deliktas. The valley has been well developed over the last 5 years or so and consequently it is a changed place. There are lots of nice properties used by a mixture of long term ex pats and local Turkish families; our complex elegance 1 is almost 50/50 Turkish British. There are a couple of mini markets in the valley selling most of what you need. There are close by a range of supermarkets on the Olu deniz road. As for transport the dolmus has now arrived and as Scunner, the provider of this site, will helpfully point out we even have a taxi rank. When you dip into the Gren Valley section you will see celebrations of everything from the building of roads to the arrival of the dolmus. The dolmus does now run but not as frequently as in other areas. There are plans to build a route through the vally to improve access to Olu Deniz, you are better checking the route and its impact on any potential purchase. There is one big development, Viewpoint which has had an impact on the whole valley during its construction but it seems now the majority of the noisy work is done. However be aware any promises that your view in the valley will be preserved and they won't build on that plot in front of you should be treated as simply that, promises not guarantees. As suggested look at the Green Valley sectionb  we are a humble lot thrilled by bus stops and taxis. I hope you enjoy house hunting, finally check out the Assured Estates system of purchases, if I was purchasing now I wouldn't consider any other way of doing it.

Hiya Linzi.  My nephew bought a 3 bed apartment in Deliktas about 3 years ago and we have stayed there twice - once in October and again in May last year. So dont really know if its a ghost town in winter.  His block is 6 apartments all English owned and used as holiday places, either for themselves or rented out.  The area has developed greatly in that time - loads of apartment blocks going up, but they are no taller than 4 storeys and its still a nice residential area for Brits and Turkish.  But I would stress its not really a holiday resort area. Its off the main Fethiye to Olu Deniz road with dolmus passing every 10 mins or so. about a 15 min drive to Olu Deniz The road is full of shops - butchers, bakers, hardware, barbers, general stores etc plus a couple of supermarkets (not huge). Theres 3 restaurants a 10 minute walk away opposite the new bus station - all are excellent with local food and cheap!  We felt we needed a car all the time to get into Fethiye, Hisaronu and Calis Beach, plus to do the big supermarket and market shopping. All the Turkish people are very friendly and we have friends now who live there permanently and are very happy - so a pretty good choice for a mix of local atmosphere and convenience to the holiday spots.  Hope this helps.  We're going to  Calis Beach in a couple of days - if I can find out anything else for you, let me know.   Bubblybee

hi LInzi,we have a place in Deliktas,up at the higher end.We have no problem getting about using the dolmus and taxi service at all.we have just returned after a week and it was as lovely as always. We like it here because it is pretty quiet but with all the facilities you need.Green valley complex is next door (practically)and is has a lovely bar and snack area though i think the pool and facilities are for the owners. It has a constant population and everybody is very friendly. As suggested,go onto the deliktas or green valley topics.

Hi Linzi, welcome to the forum. We have a place on the Green valley complex. The area is really nice, lovely and quiet bt close enough to everything you need. Busses now running twice and hour into Fethiye, or a short walk to the bottom means you have a choice of busses going in either direction, toward the beach or to town. Little supermarkets popping up all over the place in the area. Green valley has a bar/snack bar/restraunt which is open to passing trade however, Amanda is right the Pool is for owners/residents only. I hope you find what you are looking for in the area.
