Isn't it interesting to ready through this topic.  I know Keith has done something similar before and I think then it was mostly restaurants on the prom at Calis. This time the lists are much more diverse.
In no particular order
1. Harem
2. Orient
3. Kerim
4. Fish Market
:-\ need to get out more.
One week in Calis and that was all we managed. For the first time ever we ate in as much as we ate out.

Is that the roundabout that no longer has any dolphins or even a roundabout.

Walk away from the sea until you get to the traffic lights (which like the ‘Stop' signs are for information only as far as Turkish drivers are concerned). Even if the lights are green and you are only walking I would still stop here as you are on the threshold of what was the Dolphin roundabout. The right hand corner on the other side of the road is the Bombay Corner corner. Now all you have to do is cross the road, but since the roundabout and its playful dolphins were removed these crossroads need to be crossed with lots of care.

maybe we caught the Mangal on a bad night but our table had a dirty table cloth and they tried to serve the wrong main course, Seafood Casserole instead of Veal. When she did get the 'right' one it was tough beef not tender veal. we can only speak as we find.

It would be even better if there was a street map with some of them showing??[?]

Can anyone tell me how far Ocakbasi is from Calis. Is it within walking distance or is transport needed. Will definitely try this place when we are over next week.

For Ocakbasi

Heading from Calis towards Fethiye where the 'new' prom is, with the sea on your right hand side, you will see the round monument with all the black heads on the sea side, and at roughly the same point there are trampolines on your left hand side. Turn left off the main road immediately before the trampolines (so the trampolines are now to your right) and Ocakbasi is the first thing you see on the left.

It's genuine traditional Turkish fayre, cooked right in front of you - Adana kebap is sensational if you like things a little spicier. The waiters speak decent English, anyway you can go and point at your meze's if you prefer, and ask for a selection of different kebaps if you want a varied main course. They will bring them one at a time, so it's like a number of courses rather than a plate of different things. You can also have mixed kebap, which is a plate of different things  :)

Ocakbasi Kebaps (and my mum [:o] ):

Its near the Esnaf Hospital in Fethiye and yes you will need some transport from Calis, bicycle is good all along the seafront.
