As opposed to the negative responses where people would rather whinge about what didn't happen before than at least try and see a positive response. Well done sunnyd for making the effort to try and help. The choice is up to each individual. Report (or help someone report) an incident, so the police can have something to work on, or not bother because you think they won't do anything anyway.

I say thankyou to Nikki too, now that the police are aware the very least anyone can do is report anything that happens, no good moaning about incidents if you are not going to do anything about it.

I am stopping in the area at the moment and it does make you kind of nervous of walking alone I have to say but rest assured if I see anything i will report it.....thats after i have ruined his sex life for ever....given the chance!!!

Seriously though, it would not stoop me coming to Calis as I love it but something does need doing about it.

Again thanks to Nikki.

June

i have been going to Calis for the last 16 years and have often walked home alone without any problems, maybe the odd toot from the white lada drivers.  It does make me sad and angry though that there is a few gits out there targeting woman and i hope they get caught and get the punishment they deserve.

i just arrived home from Calis early this morning and what did give me the heebie jeebies this year was the men who go out (look as though they are alone) and dance all night but then try and shimmy there way in.  On a night out in Hisaronu with my turkish friend one come over to us and my friend got really angry and shouted at him to p*** off, he then persisted on coming to our table and dancing next to my mum and I.  Couples were even leaving the dance floor because he was so irritating.

Lorna.f you just reminded me about a time when I use to work as a doorman on a large night club in Middlesbrough there was a guy in his forties who use to go up to girls dancing together and try to squeeze past them even though there was plenty of room all around them, he looked like a medallion man open necked shirt just below his chest long hair and leather trousers (absolutely ridiculous) a couple of girls complained about him so we thought we would set him up, one of the doormen knew a stripper who would come in regular so we got her to dance in front of him very provocatively and start to take her clothes of I have never seen a man run so quickly in my life needles to say he never tried to come back in LOL :D

I have just been in Calis, returned home early this morning. We noticed that there is more police presence than has been in the last 4 years that we have been.

I'd like to thank everyone who has made a contribution tot his topic. If i had a pound/lira for every young (and sometimes not so young) lady ive seen walking alone at night, i'd be very rich by now.

I think these forums are a god send for opening peoples eyes. I understand how it can be off-putting to read but like it has already been said, it happens everywhere and its just a reminder to keep your wits about you.

1. don't do anything you wouldn't do at home- catch a cab and stay with your friends.

2. If your out and about during the day, be aware! If you hear a bike coming slowly behind you, take a look- it may be nothing but if it is you're not likely to get a description etc if they've caught you unawares and a glance takes only a second.

Calis is such a lovely place that it's easy to feel comfortable being out and about alone (i must admit i love it, i feel too uncomfortable here in the UK to go out and about alone). It's also easy to make yourself vunerable without realising it.

I hope they catch these guys and they get what we all feel they deserve
