Dalaman Liquids

I understand that restrictions on liquids are supposed to be applied at Dalaman Airport starting today. When there was a pilot run of this people said you could take liquids through passport control into the "Duty Free" area. The inspection of liquids took place later when going through the boarding gates. Given the price of beer, coffee, water, etc. in Turkish airports this has some significance for passengers - especially those whose plne is delayed.

Could those people travelling home today or in the next week or so please report on this.

I picked my son up at Birmingham Airport this morning.
He flew in from Dalaman,no problem with liquids.
He said the airport was very quiet.  :)

Well then, the usual precise clarity one comes to expect of Turkish authorities.

Ok,   so confusion smacks me!!!  is it 1st of August or the 1st Oct that liquid restrictions come into force? Never paid £4 for a coffee and don't intend to.                                        This is on airport website.
NEW LIQUID RESTIRICTIONS ON HAND LUGGAGE
New rules to protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives are adopted. The new rules apply from October 1, 2009 on all Turkish airports. The permitted amount of liquids, aerosols and gels in hand luggage is restricted.

We came back Thursday and had water/fanta which we took through the entrance but had drunk before we went through the secondary check at the departure gate.
Thier security does seem a bit "relaxed" though, as I had quite a bit of electronics in my bag (at Gatwick they had it all out) and that got waved through; also, wifey set the arch alarm off twice so the operator just said "go through quicker" !

My friend, who works in the travel sector, informs me that 1st October 2009 is now the official date for the new rules on liquids to come in.
