Dogs - Dilemma!
« on: August 04, 2009, 13:46:50 PM »
We live in Uzumlu and have a dog that we walk twice a day however, it is becoming increasingly difficult to do this because of the number of aggressive dogs that are loose. Our dog is always on the lead which means on the 2 recent occasions that we have been attacked, he is already at a disadvantage not to mention the person on the other end of the lead! I am almost at the point now where I am too scared to walk him. :(
We know that some of the loose dogs are owned by foreigners, some by Turks and I guess that some may be strays although during the winter there was a noticable drop in the number of stray dogs here.
Is anyone else having similar problems?

Crinklies  - try walking your dog whilst armed with a super soaker - a friend of mine does this and it works a treat.

How about carryng a stick?  I know it's a pain, but I suspect some dogs know what a stick is for and would stay away.  And those that don't will soon discover they hurt.

I simply bend down and pretend to pick up a stone and the dogs scatter. Works a treat and completely guilt free

Poor Jasper I think the best advice Mrs C is the super soaker try carrying a washing up liquid bottle and give them a good squirt make sure the water is COLD you could also try this on Mr C when he has his nap.  :-)

- definitely worth the investment of a real super-soaker - the velocity of the jet can knock them off their feet in surprise  :o  Actually Friar, it sounds a good solution for Mr Pookie's snoring.. ;)

I like the sound of the super soaker both for the aggresive dogs & Mr C :D
Friar you need to watch your back when you are chillin' on your balcony as you could be a bit more chilled than usual  ;)

Isn't it amazing how, when someone elses dog attacks yours, you are the one who ends up getting the verbal abuse! Bring on the super soaker but would I be game enough to soak the dogs owners too[?] However, just the thought of that makes me smile  :)
