Being engaged in armed robbery hardly counts as a political crime and the people who are convicted for it are thus not political prisoners.

Political? How do you work that one out? What about the others who did their time and got out early?

I still say if he had done his original time for the crime he would have probably got out much earlier. He was nobody special until he escaped and took the P*SS out of the system.

He was a political prisoner in the sense that a succession of Home Office leaders refused to release him because it would lose the party in control votes and no other reason.

more media hype. who cares about criminal minows. I am more interested in bigger fish, like are the CPS going to prosicute MPs for the crimes they committed not only the ex's they fiddled but Blair and brown over Iraq and Afgan wars

He committed his crime when the punishment fitted the crime just because times have changed and the courts are far to lenient doesn't mean he should not serve it. At the time he knew the consequences he was happy to be some sort of celebrity criminal until ill health forced him back to sponge medical treatment he should not be entitled to
