Onur Air Flight 17th October LGW
« on: August 21, 2009, 02:30:50 AM »
Informed today that the flight we had booked departing LGW to DLM on Saturday 17th October has now been put forward to Sunday 18th October departing at the same time. Good old onur air!!! this has caused me loads of hassle as I have already booked return train tickets to Gatwick for both of us and a hotel stay overnight near gatwick airport on the return journey which would have been the 24th October. The reason for booking a hotel was that the return flight time quoted was too late for train connections to get us home
We cannot travel on the Sunday (the ammended time) because we (my better half and me) are both in work early on the following Monday morning.
To top it all I have had to pay extra for alternative flights from another airport on the date we originally wanted, not only incurring extra cost ie losing my deposit on the hotel booking, only a partial refund on the train tickets, extra cost for the flights and having to pay now for airport parking!!!
Anyone else booked on the same flight?
Onur air have only offered me a full refund of the original price that I paid for the flight, stating that they have given me ample notification of the time/date change.

It's the old airline thing - sell flights and then consolidate/merge them when not enough seats sold. Or cancel completely if they want to.

If you are going this Sunday and have not heard anything then my guess is you are OK but I would check anyway just to make sure.

Hi dymond, like stoop said if you have not heard anything from them your flight should be ok but for peace of mind check with them. Didn't mean to panic you but just to let everyone know of the flight change. I suppose cos it's near the end of the season when we go that they probably haven't sold all the seats and have in fact merged two flights together. Similar thing happened to us a couple of years ago with First choice. Arrived at Dalaman to find the flight cancelled (even though we checked the day before we were due to leave) put us on another flight some 11 hours later going to another airport then bussed us back to Birmingham. Nightmare of a journey!!!
All airlines are the same me thinks, they look at profits not what impact it may have on their passengers.

You should have a number somewhere to allow you to ring them. One thing worth trying also is see if the flights are still for sale and also you could check the airport website before you leave to see if the flight is listed on the departures. Might make your journey a little less stressful if you see it 'on the board' before you set off.

Hi All
I have just had a similar experience this week, although not with Onur Air. I booked through Travel Republic to come out to Calis from Monday 24 - Saturday 29 August. Booked flights, hotel & transfers on Wednesday 19 August. Less than 24 hours later I was informed by Travel Republic that the flight had been cancelled by Custom Flights for operational reasons. No alternative flights could be offered. Therefore, I had to cancel the hotel and transfer bookings. Now here's the problem. As I cancelled the hotel and transfer due to no flight, I was told by Travel Republic that I would incur cancellation fees. Unfortunately, a hotel and transfer without a flight is a much good as a chocolate teapot. After much discussion with Travel Republic I was offered a full refund on the flight and hotel but lost all of my transfer fee as I had cancelled with seven days of departure and of course a week in Calis.

Thats a real shame Ray and very very poor service, I guess Travel Republic are just the placing agent so nothing they can do if the airline says its not going...but does not help you..

I just has a look at flights and Aegean have a flight out on 24th for £95 but hardly anything coming back...apart from Thomas Cook at 339 Euros!!!..not a lot of use now as everything is cancelled...these airlines should just not be allowed to  get away with it...

My Onur Air flight out of Bristol on the 24th October has been cancelled; they then offered me an alternative flight out of Birmingham.  Within an hour, this too was not an option, so they then offered us another flight out of Manchester!  Bit of a trek from South Wales!
