True enough, Crabbit but I gather that you can still buy an industrial type traditional bulb ie for use in inspection lights. These have both a stonger filament and glass envelope for obvious reasons.One way out of the problem.

Why don't they get their priorities right? Postmen will be exposed to great risk of injury if they bring in glass envelopes.

If this is true, the low energy bulbs have mercury in them which is bad.  LED lights arent a satisfactory alternative.  So,  we might slash our fuel bills and pollute our environment in a different way.
