Hi,

We're Paul & Lynda,English, been living in Spain the past 10 years and coming out to Fethiye next month to view properties around the area, hoping to make a purchase and move out by Xmas. After checking the websites we finally decided on a 3/4/5 bedroomed duplex, but, cannot find information about lifts, parking facilities,storage/parking spaces. Is it normal to buy an apartment with the storage and parking beneath the building with lifts to the floors?

Does Dalaman airport close in the Winter to charter flights? Seems we have to fly Malaga-Madrid-Istanbul-Dalaman if that is correct?

Paul

Paul,

Forget lifts, unlike Spain we have nothing taller than 3 floors in Calis, parking below appartments is unusual because their is loads of space and you will find most places provide on / off road or driveway parking.

Dalaman is open all year but charter flights from UK stop from early November and Srat again late April. You can get a charter all year round to Antalya and then jump a bus to Fethiye, journey is about 4 hours.

Hi,

We live around 70K east of Malaga airport on the Costa del Sol,been there 10 years now so we think it's time for a change, plus Spain is very expensive since the introduction of the Euro. Almost immediately we saw increases of upto 70%,property prices have increased by upto 18% pa for the last few years, the average price for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment on an urb, around 70 metres is 225.000 euros, town houses start around 260.000 euros, villas, anything between 400.000-1.6 million euros.

We have never been to Turkey before,I'm just trying to plan a trip for next month, initially coming Malaga-Madrid-Istanbul-Dalaman using Iberia as far as Istanbul, but, checking the flights today the Iberia flight arrives early afternoon and most days Turkish Airlines only have one flight to Dalaman at 0705 in the morning,so it will involve an overnight stay.

Thanks for the link to Orange,I mailed them and the returned the mail immediately with a car rental of £130/week. That's about the only thing cheap in Spain now,car rental, from Malaga airport we pay as little as 75 euros/week out of season.

What I would be interested to know is what you pay for meals, drinks in local bars? Here in Nerja, which is an expensive town,a menu del dia,3 courses with bread and wine/beer is around 9 euros,a good steak meal about 13 euros, pint of beer,2.60-3.50 depending on the bar, local short and mixer 3.50-4.00,water 1.20,how does that compare to Calis?

Hiya Paul and welcome to the forum.
We have had quite a few customers recently move form Spain.
The cost of living here is greatly cheaper than in Spain.
A beer is around 1.4 euro , vodka, gin and all local drinks around 2 euro.
A good steak meal aprrox 5-6 euro.( busy with my calculator here.)
Water and electric bills are ridiculously cheap unless you have the air con all day and night.
If you require any more info e mail me direct through the forum.
Take care
Heidi
