Electricity!
« on: October 21, 2009, 20:55:22 PM »
Hi all please help with advice.
We bought a place behind the hospital between aug 08 and april 09.
It is on a complex ,No problems there we love it. in Aug we thought that we had payed all our bills and set up the direct debits. The bank that we use opened up a new account for the electric to be taken out of.I.may be green but should i have then informed the electric company regards the account only i was left by the very helpful people at my bank that the monies would be taken out automatically. And then Last week we had a shock (pun) we were informed that our electricity had been switched off and that we owed around about £100.
1, how do i get it switched back on.
2,does it take a great deal of time once the account is corrected.
Thanks for reading

Hi Gleggy,
Did you have the electric to your property transfered to your name? Sometimes if the electric hasn't been transferred then the eletric company can cut you off as it is classed as not having a 'registered owner'. There is normally a yellow paper issued to your meter if this is the case. If you have a white paper then you have been cut off for a non payment of bills.
Normally if you set up a direct debit the electric company are notified.
To switch the electric back on, you need to go to Aydem electric with your 'abone' (registration) number, and ask if there is a debt and take the relevant papers with you.

if you have been cut off due to non payment of bills, once the debt has been paid they will connect you that afternoon/evening.
If the disconnection is due to non registration of the abone number then you have to register. Once registered you will then be connected.
