Hi has anyone from the uk bought a car from germany and re registered it here.
As you know cars are really expensive here so i would hope its an easier option to buy from germany as its LHD and its cheaper?
thanks

I think bringing cars into Turkey has been covered a few times on here. From memory you can bring one in for a maximum of 6 months - unless things have changed. That's why 2nd hand car prices are so high in Turkey.

I think you'll find that the 6 month rule applies all non-Turkish registered vehicles and that to permanently import a foreign registered vehicle is advised against because of the costs involved.

as I understand you are allowed to bring in the car twice for six months at a time with either six months or a year between visits, unsure if the car after two visits ican be registered in another name ie your wife's name wether car is allowed back, my understanding is that it's not as they take not only owners detail but also engine vin etc and it's the car not the owner or driver. crazy rule. if you are retired or are a working for certain universities as a lecturer different rules may apply but check those out before you buy.

Believe you are allowed to import one car if you are a retired pensioner.  A lot of hassle and paperwork though
