I've sent it to Sad and the Turkish consulate in the UK.
Excellent article and I have shared it with the FB group.

Hello Flipflop2 and hello everyone else... I just want to quickly introduce myself... I'm Ruth and I work for Thomas Cook heading up their Sustainability team (yes we really do have one!) so this topic is particularly close to my heart.  I've just found out about your discussion and no one here can find out where your letters landed but now I know about it, I'm really happy to chat to you.  I have the full support of Thomas Cook as we're strong ambassadors of sustainability and certainly wouldn't shy away from any discussions about it.
The work that Simon from abta referred to was, in fact, led by Thomas Cook as it's something we really care about.  We're absolutely with you on this and have been leading campaigns against the dolphinarium in Hisaronu right from the start, voicing our concerns at the very highest level.  We continue to campain against it and tell our customers not to visit.

I'm happy to chat to you on this forum because we would hate you to think that Thomas Cook support (or ignore) this kind of thing.

Ruth

You're very welcome here Ruthy, and thanks for taking the time to join and give us your information and thoughts. It is encouraging to read that one of the big tour operators into our area are so strongly with us on this horrible subject.

The Economic Voice column - follow the link for the draft letter.

Please feel free to contact NGO's NOT ON THE LIST BELOW and ask them to write to the Turkish Embassy in their country and send the letter as a PDF or scan to SAD.

Individually please write to the Turkish Embassy if you want to BUT PLEASE DON'T SEND TO SAD - this at THEIR request.

If you want to post your letter on the discussion board under this topic then we will collate the responses from here on their behalf.

It is VERY important at this moment in time not to clog up SAD-DEMAG email box with hundreds of letters.

Thank you

Ruthy

do you think Thomas Cook would be able to write a letter along the lines as outlined in Jeff Taylors column for the Economic Voice.

http://www.economicvoice.com/for-tom-and-misha-the-turkish-torture-continues/50012611#axzz0xoKC1s3x

The letter needs to go to the Turkish Embassy in the UK so that it can be processed through official channels.

However because this might take some time we are asking NGO's to also send a PDF or scan of the letter on headed paper to SAD-DEMAG so that it is in their hand immediately.

Here is the link to the column and at the bottom is an outline letter as an example of what needs to be said.

Very much hope you are able to help as the voice of Thomas Cook will carry a lot of weight.

Thanks

Hi, have had a chat with abta about the letter as I think it would have more voice if came from them - they represent many different tour operators as well as Thomas Cook.  They are sending a letter to the minister about this today, which mentions the animal welfare issues and the health and safety risks so they will also send this to the Turkish Embassy.  Hope this helps!

This is taken from the Born Free letter writing team "Activity" as written in their new Campaign Newsletter

The address of the Turkish Embassy in Britain is:

His Excellency, Unal Cevikoz,

Turkish Embassy
43 Belgrave Square
London
SW1X 8PA

Email: turkish.emb@btclick.com

...but please note this a letter writing campaign as this has greater impact.

Start the letter Your Excellency, and sign the letter
Yours sincerely and respectfully

Urge the Ambassador to rehome the dolphins for the sake of
public health and safety and for the welfare of the dolphins.

Say you understand that the Born Free Foundation is willing
to develop and fund a rehabilitation programme with SAD
(Sualti Arastirmalari Dernegi or ‘Underwater Research
Society').

Politely request the Ambassador to advise the
relevant Ministries in Turkey of the Born Free offer and
willingness to help. Thank you very much.

This is a letter writing campaign so although an email is fine a letter has more impact.

Live in Turkey and you want to write to the Turkish Government directly these are the contact details - you can send by recorded delivery -signed for - at the PTT for about few lira
