I know it's a long shot but is there any chance that the big shops (migros, tansas, eren etc) would put the poster up?
I do think we should stress the health aspect of this.  Swimming with them is not going to be good because they (the Dolphins)will, IMO, develop problems being in the pool.  Their immune system is going to deteriorate rapidly.
Problem is most of the diseases won't 'appear' until the people have gone home so if they're told about it beforehand it may put them off.

I am writing with regard to the building of a Dolphinarium in Hisarönü Turkey. The pool  being built is a concrete pool up a mountain. The imminent movement of 2 Dolphins currently held in captivity in Kas in Turkey forces me to write to you.

If I could draw to your attention the following facts I would be very grateful if you could look into this matter.

Turkish Animal Protection Bill 2004

The staff at the Kas Centre are telling customers the Dolphins will be moved 2nd or 3rd of June 2010.

This will be in direct contravention of the Turkish Animal Protection Bill 2004, specifically

PURPOSE
Article 1

to ensure that animals are afforded a comfortable life and receive good and proper treatment, to protect them in the best manner possible from the infliction of pain, suffering and torture, and to prevent all types of cruel treatment.

PRINCIPLES
Article 4 paragraphs a), c), f), h) and i)

a) All animals are born equal and have a right to life within the framework of the provisions of this Law.

c) The necessary measures must be taken in order to protect, supervise and care for animals and shield them from maltreatment.

f) It is a principle that wild animals will not be removed from their natural habitats, and animals which are living freely in nature will not be captured and deprived of their freedom.

h) It is a principle that animals will be cared for, fed, sheltered and transported under the conditions suited to their species.

i) Those that transport animals or have them transported must do so in a suitable environment and under suitable conditions according to their species and nature, and they must be fed and cared for during transportation.

CHAPTER ONE - Ownership, care and welfare of animals
Article 5

A person who participates in a general training program regarding the care of animals and who takes ownership of or looks after an animal is liable for sheltering the animal, meeting their ethological needs in accordance with their species and reproductive methods, taking care of their health and taking all necessary precautions with regard to the health and safety of people, animals and the environment.

CHAPTER TWO - Interventions in animals
Article 8

It is forbidden to give an animal hormones or drugs in a manner or dose that will change the nature of his species or ethology, unless it is for medical purposes, to drug an animal with various substances or to artificially alter the behavioural or physical characteristics specific to an animal species.

European Standards

Ibrahim Dilek the PA to Mr Kuznetsov said the pool would be built to European Standards. It does not. The European Standards are for the welfare and protection of the public as well as the Dolphins.

The pool does not meet any of the European Standards, specifically

- the pool is 912cm³ - the requirement for two Dolphins is 1200cm³

- there is no sound insulation in the pool and no specialist acoustic tests have been carried out to prove the vibration and noise levels from the all night underground disco and surrounding bars are safe for the Dolphins.

The European Standards state that the Dolphins must not be exposed to excessive noise

- the pool is built with concrete which according to Mr Kuznetsov's own Kaş Dolphinarium web site will badly affect the Dolphins sonar system

- chemicals and chlorinated water will be used and this can cause the Dolphins to become blind

- there is no shaded area and water temperature control which is vital for the welfare of the Dolphins

- there is no isolation pool which is clearly required by the European Standards

- the perimeter fence is inadequate to protect the dolphins from public interference and disturbance

In addition  Mr Kuznetsov does not employ
- any qualified personnel or a Veterinary Surgeon who must be a qualified Marine Biologist.

- a qualified person to regulate the water purity, take samples of water and he is unclear where these will be sent for analysis.

The staff currently employed at Kas who will work in Hisarönü do not have the professional qualifications for these jobs.

Public Safety

It is also clear from regular observation and monitoring that the pool is leaking water and is being topped up with tap water to maintain a level. This makes it impossible to manage,  regulate and maintain the correct levels with regard to temperature and chemicals.

This poses a huge health and safety risk to the public. Water quality is vital to protect Dolphins and the public. There are many diseases that can be passed from humans to Dolphins and Dolphins to humans.

Professional monitoring, testing and control of water quality is required in order to protect the public (tourists) and dolphins.

Movement of the Dolphins

The stress caused to the  Dolphins by transporting them to Hisarönü would almost certainly kill the Dolphins. The plan is to move them not just once but twice a year from Kaş to Hisarönü and back to Kaş in the winter.s

There is no means to do this that would not contravene the Turkish Animal Protection Bill 2004.

Mr Kuznetsov does not have a good history of keeping Dolphins alive. He told us that 2 of his Dolphins in Kaş died from pneumonia and four in Alanya died from ingesting seeds from nearby trees the same trees that surround the roads around the pool in Hisarönü.

I look forward to your confirmation that there will not be a Dolphinarium in Hisarönü

I am writing on behalf of the 9500 people (so far) world wide that are opposed to this Dolphinarium in Hisarönü.

Yunus Parklari Hisarönü Ölüdeniz Turkey

Aşagidaki hususlara dikkatinizi çekmek istiyorum:
 
Türkiye'de 2004 Tarihli "Hayvanlari Haklari Koruma Kanunu":
Kaş ilçesindeki yunus parkinda çalişmakta olan personel, arayan müşterilere Yunuslarin 2 veya 3 Haziran'da taşinacagini söylemektedir.
 
Bu, özellikle aşagidaki maddeler başta olmak üzere 2004 tarihli Türkiye Hayvan Haklarini  Koruma Kanununa dogrudan bir aykirilik teşkil edecektir:
 
Türkiye'de 2004 Tarihli "Hayvan Haklari Koruma Kanununun Amaci -(Madde1)
· Hayvanlarin rahat yaşamalarini ve uygun , iyi muamele görmelerini  temin etmek, hayvanlarin aci, istirap ve eziyet çekmelerine karşi en iyi şekilde korunmalarini, her türlü magduriyetlerinin önlenmesini saglamak.
 
iLKELER:
Madde 4 paragraf a), c), f), h) and i)
a) Bütün hayvanlar eşit dogar ve bu Kanun hükümleri çerçevesinde yaşama hakkina sahiptir.
c) Hayvanlarin korunmasi, gözetilmesi, bakimi ve kötü muamelelerden uzak tutulmasi için gerekli önlemler alinmalidir.

· Hayvan hakkinda egitim programina katilip bilgi sahibi olan kişi yani "sahibi" hayvani  barindirmali , türüne ve üreme şekline uygun olan tüm ekolojik ihtiyaçlari temin etmeli, hayvanin sagligina dikkat etmeli ve gerek  insan, gerek diger hayvanlar  ve çevre sagligi açisindan gerekli tüm önlemleri almakla yükümlüdür.
 
 
iKiNCi BÖLÜM - Hayvanlara Müdahale ederken :

Madde 8
· Bir hayvana tibbî amaçlar dişinda, onun türüne ve ekolojik özelliklerine aykiri hale getirecek şekilde ve dozda hormon ve ilaç vermek, çeşitli maddelerle doping yapmak, hayvanlarin türlerine has davraniş ve fizikî özelliklerini yapay yöntemlerle degiştirmek yasaktir.
 
Avrupa Standartlari
Sn. Alexsandr  Kuznetsov' un Asistani olan "ibrahim Dilek" havuzun Avrupa Standartlarina göre inşa edilecegini söylemiştir. Ancak, havuz Avrupa Standartlarina uygun degildir.
Bu Avrupa Standartlari, Yunuslarin  yani sira halkin da sagligina ve korunmasina  yöneliktir.
 
!!!!  Havuz, aşagidaki Avrupa Standartlarina uygun degildir: !!!!
 
· 2 yunus için inşa edilmekte olan havuz sadece  912cm³'dür - Oysa: 2 Yunus için gerekli olan alan 1200 cm³'dür.
 
· Havuzda ses yalitimi yoktur ..ve gece boyunca açik diskolarin ve çevredeki barlarin gürültüsü  Yunuslari rahatsiz edecek kadar fazladir. Yunuslar gürültüye ve titreşimlere aşiri duyarli hayvanlar olduklarindan;  civardaki bu gürültü onlarin barindirilmasi için uygun degildir. Yunus parklarinin hayvanlar açisindan güvenilir bir ortam haline getirilmesi için ; parkin civarinda mevcut olan ses seviyesi özel akustik testler sayesinde ölçülür ve Avrupa Standartlari ile karşilaştirilmalidir. 
Avrupa Standartlarinda Yunus Baliklarinin aşiri gürültüye maruz birakilmamasi gerektigi belirtilmektedir.
 
· Havuz, (Sn. Kuznetsov' un Kaş ilçesinde işletmekte oldugu Yunus parkinin web sitesindede  belirtilmiş oldugu gibi)  yunuslarin sonar sistemini kötü bir şekilde etkileyecek olan betonla inşa edilmiştir.
 
· Kimyasallar ve klorlu su kullanilacaktir; ki bu durum yunuslarin kör olmasina neden olabilir.
 
· Havuzda AB Standartlarinda belirtilmiş olan  "gölgeli alan" yoktur, yunuslar sicaga aşiri duyarli hayvanlardir; fazla güneş işini onlarin suyun içinde yanmasina ve görme bozukluguna sebep olur. Yine ..havuzda Yunuslarin sagligi açisindan çok önemli olan su isi kontrolü yoktur.
 
· Avrupa Standartlari uyarinca  gerekli izolasyon yoktur.
 
· Havuzun çevresindeki parmaklik yunuslari  halkin müdahalesinden ve verebilecekleri rahatsizliktan korumak için yetersizdir.
 
Ayrica, Sn.Alexsandr Kuznetsov :
· Yunus parkinda ;  yunuslardan anlayan özel egitimli nitelikli personel veya nitelikli bir deniz biyolog ‘u olmasi gerekirken;  (deniz memelileri hakkinda bilgili olmasi gereken)  bir veteriner hekim çaliştirmamaktadir .
 
· Yunus havuzunun temiz olmasini saglamak için  su numuneleri alacak nitelikli bir kişi çaliştirmamaktadir ve bu su numunelerinin analiz için nereye gönderilecegi konusunda kesin bilgiye de sahip degildir.
 
· Þu anda Kaş'ta çaliştirilan ve Hisarönü'nde de çalişacak olan personel, bu işler için gereken mesleki niteliklere sahip degildir.
 
Halk Güvenligi

Ayrica, düzenli gözlem ve izlemelere göre havuzun su sizdirdigi ve seviyeyi korumak için musluk suyuyla dolduruldugu açiktir. Bu durum, isi ve kimyasallar açisindan dogru seviyeleri saglama, ayarlama ve sürdürmeyi imkansiz kilmaktadir.
 
Bu durum, halk için büyük bir saglik riski teşkil etmektedir. Su kalitesi, yunuslarin  ve onlarla yüzecek olan kişilerin sagliginin korunmasi açisindan çok önemlidir. insanlardan yunuslara ve yunuslardan insanlara geçebilecek pek çok hastalik vardir.
 
Halki (turistleri) ve yunuslari  korumak için havuz suyunun rutin profesyonel denetim, analiz  ve kontrolü  gerekmektedir.
 
Yunus Baliklarinin Taşinmasi

Yunuslarin  Hisarönü'ne taşinirken maruz kalacagi stresin onlari öldürmesi neredeyse kesindir. Kaş'tan Hisarönü'ne ve kişin tekrar Kaş'a olmak üzere yilda bir kez degil iki kez taşinmalari planlanmaktadir.
 
Bunu, 2004 tarihli Türkiye Hayvanlari Koruma Kanununu ihlal etmeden yapmanin hiçbir yolu yoktur.
 
Sn.Alexsandr Kuznetsov, Yunuslari  yaşatma konusunda iyi bir geçmişe sahip degildir. Kendisi bize Kaş'taki Yunuslarindan  ikisinin zatürreeden öldügünü ve Alanya'da da dördünün yakindaki agaçlarin tohumlarini yedikleri için öldügünü söyledi; ki bu agaçlar Hisarönü'ndeki havuzun etrafindaki yollari çevreleyen agaçlarla aynidir.
 
Çevre sakinleri ve bu projeye karşi çikmakta olan toplam 9500 kişi adina ,Fethiye Hisarönü'nde bir "Yunus parki" olmayacagina dair teyidinizi sabirsizlikla bekliyoruz.

Well said peecee! People can take posters, letters etc. and put them up on windows, notice boards whatever to make everyone aware!  It does only need a bit of sellotape, blu-tack or a drawing pin!  If it was discreet enough I'm sure it could be put up around the Mayors office!:D:D:D
