A suggested heading for the pages on diseases to be sent to the minister of health as above in previous post, just copy and paste
Perhaps the health and safety authorities can stop the pool!!

Dear Sir,

The new Dolphinarium in Hisaronu poses a huge health risk to tourists.
Two large bottle bottlenosed dolphins will be kept in water unchecked or regulated by professionals, with no clear testing proceedures.

The concrete tank is very small pool measuring just 12 X 17 metres.
It does not conform to any of the European Standards.Tourists will enter the water.

Many diseases are transmittable between humans and dolphins, please read attached document.

The owners previous two dolphins died from pneumonia even though they were in the sea.

This pool has been brought to the attention of the world via the internet.
The damage to the reputation of Turkey is of grave concern.

Please confirm that adequate monitering, testing, purification of water will be conducted by the correct authorities and has met with your approval, in order to reduce the risk to human health.

This pool will be opened for this tourist season very soon.

Thank you for your immediate help on this issue

Sincerely,

Its Turkey and they will do what they like. You should see the thousands of animals kept in glass tanks in Pet Shops up here in Istanbul. Huge dogs spending all day in a hot tank. hundreds of kittens kept in small cages. Thousands of budgies crammed together pecking each other to death in small cages all for the sake of business.  Im a foreigner here and my word counts for nothing. I dont say anything because I will just be castigated. I cant look sometimes because this kind of animal traffiking makes me angry.

Linda 1953 it's just that type of attitude that annoys me intensly.
If people listen to what you are saying then no one will try to stop this cruelty.
People, like you, said exactly the same when we started the fight to stop a cement factory being built in Uzumlu and, even though we are foreigners who worked with our Turkish neighbours, suprise suprise we stopped it.
Positive thinking and support are far healthier that being so negative.

I have just received this response from John Sellar.

"There appears to be some misunderstanding regarding CITES and the role of the CITES Secretariat.  CITES regulates international trade in animals and plants.  It does not regulate the use of animals and plants at national levels.  The transaction to which your concerns refer does not appear to fall within the remit of CITES and we can take no action in this case.
