There is a good bakery on the Ovacik hill on the left as you go towards Hisaronu from Fethiye. The round bread with a hole in the middle like a doughnut shape is popular with the Turkish children who are my neighbours and costs about 50 kurus. There are a large variety of breads to choose from. There are small supermarkets, Sok and Bim in that area on the main road. They stock most basics.Sut(milk)Peynir(cheese)Su(water) and things like that. The market is on a Monday at the bottom of Ovacik hill.T If you are going into Fethiye and want Turkish food there are a lot of small cafes around the cinema area which do Turkish food as well as some lovely places like the  Mozaice Bahce and the Paspatur (old town)area.Menemen is a scrambled egg meal with peppers in. Mercimek is lentil soup.Iskender Kebab is a lamb kebab on a plate with spicy butter sauce and  yoghurt.  :)There are plenty of places to eat in Ovacik and Hisaronu.

Hi, you will get lots of tips from people on the Forum and Nichola has given you a great link already. Also use the search facility, just ask anything you want.

Be brave, venture out, ask locally and recognise that tourism plays a great part in the local economy so expect lots of things that go with that but you will easily search out the real Turkey if you look. 8)
