Which leader is biggest loser?

According to reports today the party members of all the three main parties are angry with their leaders for messing up and want "something done about it". Tories fed up with Cameron for not winning; LibDems fed up with Clegg for losing seats; Labour fed up with ... well you know how this goes. So if even their own members are disillusioned with them today - what prospects for them convincing the rest of us?

Mind you SNP and PC leaders have hardly covered themselves in glory, BNP are (fortunately) a joke, and UKIP have sunk almost without trace. The leader of of the DUP is obviously a really big loser because he has been thrown out of his own constituency. So did any party actually win? Oh yes, the Green Party - well done folks - but who the hell is your leader? (Any answers without the aid of Google please).

I think "the LibDems" are the big winners - they fail to capitalise on their surge in support after the debate *at all* and still may get their wish for electoral reform - the jammy gits!

Labour lost in every way you consider loss.

The Conservative Party lost because they couldn't match Blair, or even come close, when the opportunity rarely arises to remove a tired, washed up, third term Government from Downing Street. I wonder if Cameron remembers the triumphal Tony's arrival in Downing Street, greeted as a hero. Had Cameron steered his party to a majority that may well have been him. That must really hurt.

I can see why you think the LibDems are the biggest winners but I an not so sure this makes Nick Clegg the winning leader. If he props up the Tories he will be hated by many LibDem supporters; if he sidles up to Labour he will be hated by even more voters. This afternoon a thousand protesters were outside the LibDem HQ angrily shouting at him not to "sell out" on proportional representation. But if he refuses to do a deal with Cameron - who is probably too frightened that voters want PR even to allow a referendum on this - then people will blame him for undermining the possibility of a stable government (so its his fault if we have another election in the next few weeks). Whatever he decides, can he take his party with him?

I don't think he will sleeping easily this weekend.

Here's a dilemma - I would want MPs to have the courage of their convictions and stand by their principles and yet I would also want them to do whatever was in the country's best interests which at the moment is probably working with people who they fundamental disagree with.

I agree with Colwyn, Clegg has a big decision to make.

The problem is that if the Liberal party and Liberal supporters won't allow them to "sell out" to Labour or Conservative to achieve proportional representation, then they need to win a General Election to realise this core aim.

In which case, it won't be happening in any of our lifetimes

Was there any protest at all about people being turned away from the polling stations???

There was from those affected but it wasn't huge and it didn't amount to much. Apparently there will be an enquiry of some sort, and the people responsible for it aren't because they've been warning the Government for years. So all in all, somebody is responsible but nobody thinks it is them, and ultimately it didn't happen in sufficient numbers to make any of the affected votes questionable.

But it fills you with pride that those who are employed to let people have a piece of paper each and take it from them once they've used it, couldn't actually manage it, given just 16 hours to fit them all in.

apparently under the European Convention you have a right to vote and consequently those people who couldn't vote will be able to sue the Election Commission for in the region of £750

but how would you prove you were there and couldn't vote?

Sorry £750 would not have compensated for having to put up with a party I did not want to govern simply because the authorities ran out of ballot papers.  Shame, shame , shame.
