I'm afraid I go along with Mark on this one!! I agree that the charities do a great job, but I for one do not like being 'ripped off' by the guy at Anna Bar. I know that you are getting 'free' entertainment and entrance BUT the only person who really gains from this is Mehmet as he gets the revenue from the drinks he sells. AA don't benefit from this, they only benefit if people are there to buy raffle tickets, and unfortunately as most of us here are on a budget will not happily pay his bumped up prices when nothing is being donated to the charity! Me being one of them! :-\ I think another venue should be sought, one that you could possibly arrange a meal, with a donation coming from the food and where the beers and soft drinks do not cost an arm and a leg!! But this is only my personal opinion.  :)

I have tried to make my point clear Andy, this is NOT about you, the AA or the Haloween party itself, it is about Mehmet & the Anna bar charging over inflated prices & then refusing to give a donation to charity, simple as that, please don't take it personally.

I am another who would not attend any charity events at Anna's.
A year or so back, a few of us were there when we were paying 10tl for a meal and a donation from that going to the animal charity. However, (and I posted on this last year) we attended another 10tl charity meal, asked 3 times for our food, waited well over an hour, everyone else had finished and the disco had begun. We had nothing like a previous meal and certainly nothing like what everyone else had just eaten. Just a very very small portion, not enough to feed a young child, when we complained, we were told 'what do you expect for 10tl'. Needless to say, we left and have not beeen back to Anna's since.
Ok, I am only talking a few of us, but over time the amount in just raffle tickets to AA has been lost.

I am sure that Andy and Pauline would sell you raffle tickets in the week up to the actually do. They wouldnt lose out then.

Tink kindly invite Brenda and I to a Charity do in Anna Bar last year I think it was (may have been 2009). And to be honest the food served that night wasn't that great. Would it stop us going back to the same venue to support the wonderful work that AA and the 3C's do ?.

Of course it wouldn't. If that's where the charity workers think is the best venue, then that's good enough for me.

It becomes very difficult in the winter to find venues which have all the requirements to put on a "good do".  All of us mob from the 3C's had a brilliant nite,(so nice when you dont have to organise it lol) yes drinks were a bit more expensive but its only once a month or so. We ate before we came out, had a couple of drinks in Bostons beforehand which worked out only 2Lira less a round anyway.

Does it need to be a venue with food?
Could the events perhaps begin a little later, maybe 8.30pm?  Thus allowing people to either eat at home or have
an early meal elsewhere.

For 3Cs events, the donation from the restaurant for the food is pretty much 50% of what we make, so yes, we need venues with food.

Sorry Liz. we take 5tl per person of the food money but the venues we use are usually very good. At one event we did last year the committee made all the food which was mimimal cost to the charity because we all subsidised it. We had dozens of compliments about it but we couldnt of course carry on doing that. We dont make it compulsory to eat however. Anyway back on subject.!! IT WAS AN EXCELLENT NIGHT OUT. !!!!Well done all of you and anyone have answer to the question does anyone have the website addy? :D:D I think everything has been said on the subject now Andy and it should be closed.
