Dalaman - reverse Transfer !
« on: June 10, 2010, 14:21:45 PM »
Hi - Gill's daughter is coming on the 23rd June and I have booked her with Rain Transfers. As she lands at 10pm ish - and is a teenager on her own - it will be late when she finally gets close to us and although I gave good directions on the booking she is worried if the driver can't find us (we are off the usual runs) and she can't remember where we are in the dark.

So I thought - no problem - I will book with Rain to go to the airport to get a fictitious flight out (I will find one with appropriate timings so I am not hanging around too long) and then book the same transfer as her to return an hour or so later.

If that theory works (for a tenner) when I arrive at Dalaman departures can I just walk downstairs to the arrivals without any problems to meet her with the ranks of transfer drivers?

If not Ian, just do what I have done in the past, IF a transfer company is not sure where we are, that is to drop off at Tez Tour, just at the bottom  of the road, and meet her there. I have used 4 or 5 different shuttle companies over the years and they all know the Tez Tour office. Remember, even if the transfer you book for a certain flight that ends up being hours delayed, you will still have to be picked up at the stated time and maybe have to hang around for hours at Dalaman. At least Gills daughter will be able to give you a call or text on arrival so you know approx the time she will arrive at Tez Tour.

Ian

If you put all your clothes on back to front and sit facing the wrong way you might get there for nothing. The driver won't know whether you're coming or going. Trust that helps.

Very good!

I've just had a very big tooth out at Mr Cagtay and you have made me laugh and that hurts!

I mentioned your name - he said ah Calis Beach Forum - but I am not sure it did me any good :D: :) (minus the left hand one)

Ian

Ps For those who like (as I do) a cost associated with everything:
3 x-rays - big tooth removed - 50 lira

Graham - would you believe the price (door to door) with Rain is £10 return! I have never used them before but booked it for Rachael and then when I realised maybe I shouldn't have "tested" a new company with a teenager - when we are not sure if they will find us so I thought this was the cheapest way out of it!!!

Thanks for your reply.

Ian why dont you just ask Rain if you can tag along to meet Rachael at the airport if you pay £10?

I'm sure he made it just that little bit more painful for you, I did mention that an Ian may come. He asked me what sort of treatment you should get and I replied the heavy treatment!

Your 50 TL looks good value, average private UK prices 3x £28 (xrays) + £92 (extraction) = £176.

Hi Ian,

We used Rain Transfers last week and though they dropped us off at our apartment as I gave them directions, when confirming the return they asked us to meet them on the main road as they advised they did not know where the apartments were.

This was not really an issue when I considered that we had saved £40 on previous transfer costs and they were on time.
Just something to consider as an option if you are not easy to find.
