Colour Coded Dolmus

Another fine example of Turkish innovation was evident on our latest visit, the colour coded dolmus, there were one or two at first, then about mid June almost overnight most of them had their bonnets painted an array of colours, orange for Tasyaka, dark blue for Calis, gold for Sakklikent (very posh !!!) etc., all except the "executive" Olu Deniz dolmus (which are obvious anyway).

We use them a lot and find this system really quite useful to see which dolmus is which without scrutinising for the signs in the windscreen !. The simplest ideas are often the best !

Forgive me but how is a tourist meant to know what coloured dolmus is going where. Is it not much easier to read the sign which says Tasyaka or Calis :)

So are all the dolmus's now colour coded without any signs in the window or do they still have the signs as well? As John has pointed out how will people know which colour bus is going to which destination until you have got the hang of the colours and my memory is not what it used to be!

I noticed the Tasyaka/Karagozler ones were all orange fronted. I must admit I never noticed the Calis ones were colour coded at all [:o]
