Hi,
Does anyone know if you can just go to Dalaman and try to buy a ticket for an available flight?

I would use the internet. We have booked flights online from the internet cafe near scarlets bar. Wouldnt fancy hanging around dalaman airport on the off chance.

You can, but you will most likely be only able to get a sniff of a standby. This means having nothing definite at all for hours and hours followed by a vague chance that someone didn't show up and you go from killing time to suddenly having to move at the speed of light. Only recommended if you are absolutely desperate, or you have patience in bucket loads. The standbys I've known haven't been exactly cheap either as I recall.

Just a point of interest.  I got a Thomas Cooke standby from Bodrum to Manchester in May for £150.  Plenty of seats then but wouldn't like to risk it in high season

I got a one way flight for someone in our block just 2 weeks ago, and 2 days before departure, Dalaman to Gatwick, £40, that included taxes and luggage. The flight was only about a third full, a Thomson flight. So worth going to a good internet cafe with print out facilities and waiting till the conformation is sent to your e mail address.

2 years ago we went to dalaman to se if we could get on a flight to the UK urgently as my mother had been taken seriously ill and we needed to get back as soon as we could. There was a first choice flight checking in. We spoke to a rep who i must say tried everything she could to get us on the flight as there were 2 seats available but the problem was there was no way they would take payment at the airport we were told we would have to book online but by then it would have been to late. We had to leave the airport feeling very low as we knew ther was seats but we could not get them. So i dont think it wise for anyone to just turn up at the airport to try to get a flight. They say they cannot take payment there. It could have been because it was very late at night i dont. know.

My wife just turned up at Dalaman 2 years ago in August her mum was seriously ill.
She got on an Onur air flight to East mids but was offered various options. East mids just happened to be the quickest to the uk despite a 2.5 hour trip from there. Cost £110 if I remember.
