Well I don't. People who rely heavily on tips take the job knowing they rely heavily on tips, and should learn quickly the best ways to earn tips. They should also learn quickly the quickest ways not to earn tips, and for any waiters reading this here is quickest way no.1 to not earn a tip: Ask for a tip.

Simple really.

They always leave a tip this was genuinely forgotten, one was going to be left but because of confusion over who was paying the bill it was over looked ,and they were walking out not running ,the food was good service good nice place then they go and let themselves down shame they were talking about leaving 15tl  ,never mind a. ;):D

We went to the Megri on Saturday night; it's one of our favourite places to eat.  The service and meals were excellent, despite it being absolutely packed in there.  In fact, our main course arrived so quickly, we were still picking at the bread and meze starters!   :o

We were given complimentary coffees and the staff were very keen to know that we were pleased with our meals!  (Three completely empty plates should have given them their answer!)   :)

No complaints at all about this place.  But I agree - they should not be asking for a tip.  Maybe they were worried that the party had not enjoyed their meal or the service offered?  Saying that - most of them have fantastic English at this place, so could easily have asked if there were any problems.

actually, I think you may be right Jules.  No tip usually signifies disappointment with the meal / service.  We have been going to Megri for years and have always found meals/service were excellent.  i wonder if the question about the tip wasn't so much to ask for one, but concern that they hadn't left one because they were disappointed ?  we know several of the waiters at megri and it certainly wouldn't enter their heads to actually ask for a tip...
