The beach, also known as an ash tray
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:00:35 AM »
Hi

I've just returned from two weeks in Calis. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed our stay, but I have to say the one disappointment was the state of the beach.

Why do so many smokers think their cigarette butts vanish into thin air when they throw them away? They don't - they stay and clutter up the beach, making it look like an ash tray. We only spent one day out of 14 there, and we weren't the only ones to feel this way as other people where we were staying mentioned it.

I wonder if they are any plans to have a clean-up?

They had it in May. There was some talk of extra on the Efes to pay for the beach cleaning. Not sure if that happened (well the extra on the Efes did). Problem is it's council owned so it's their problem really. I'm sure they wouldn't complain if the bars looked after their little bit though.

Totally agree with you.

This is about Koca Calis, the talk of extra on the price of Efes was from bar and hotel owners in Calis - and wasn't spoken about as a way to raise funds to clean the beach specifically.

When we have a day at the beach at Koca Calis usually, we buy a drink in a can and then use the can as an ashtray, making sure we take it with us to dispose of in a bin. It's a no brainer really.

I'd like to know what happens to the money they get from renting out the loungers and sunshades, they certainly don't seem to spend it on the upkeep of the beach.

From the nature of the post I assumed it was Calis not Koca Calis beach being talked about. Anyway most of the beaches in Koca are looked after buy the bar owners and we usually find them pretty good with bins and pots available for cig butts.

Which part of the beach are you talking about Zorg?
