How amazing that nasty comments from certain people can generate such  wonderful "feel good" factor reactions from so many others . I am sure I speak for all of the other members of the Carnival Committee when I say how uplifting it is to get such lovely comments and it truly does make it all worthwhile. A great bunch of people that it is a priviledge to work with .Carry on the good work Chrissie and Pete and welcome back from your well deserved holiday.As Jan rightly said to the scandalmongers Put up or shut up. Well said Jan .

I am personally aquainted with 2 of these people who have continually 'slagged off' Peter & his good Lady at every opportunity. They have never, ever donated a single kurus to the Charity, and are very vehement in their character asassinations of 2 of the nicest, all- caring people that Lorraine & I have ever met. Mind you, this particular couple really don't have a decent word to say about ANYONE, their own circle of 'friends' is shrinking ever smaller!
 
When Loz & I returned to Turkey in May of last year for a holiday, we were greeted with exclamations of great surprise as to how 'very well' I was looking, everywhere we went. It transpired that when we had left Turkey in April 2009, the rumour mongers put the word around that we had done so as I was 'terminally ill', & had 'gone back home', (to Scotland), to die!!!! BULLDUST, Never felt so good for a long time!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that I know who started this rumour,& the malicious maligning of Pete & Chrissie, but I laughed, & shrugged it off,:D Best if you two can do the same, P&C.
Please continue with the great work, both of you, hope to see you around New Year.

Chrissie and Pete, I have never met you, but judging from the comments on this topic, you appear to be solid, upright citizens who believe in helping others less fortunate than ourselves, for which I commend you. Dont upset yourselves about these ugly, malicious rumours spread by people who are too lazy and self-centred to help others, then get jealous because people like you are well liked. People like that do not deserve to live amongst decent people as they are the lowest of the low. I hope they read these comments, and someone gives them what they deserve. If not, give me a call and I will do it. No Charge.

Pete and I are both overwhelmed at the kind comments and support  from the members  of the forum and for the private e-mails that we have also received.

For the record, these ugly rumours have been flying around Calis since we first started Carnival 3 years ago.  For those who are unaware, we allegedly  purchased our new car on the proceeds  of the first car boot sales  in 2008.  It also appears  that we started a business and funded holidays on the proceeds, and that is apart from all the freebies that we get from the bar owners and other businesses - like as if!

Normally we usually let it all go over our heads and laugh it off - after all it is Calis and if you are daft enough to stick your heads up over the parapet  you are sure to get them shot down - sadly it is all par of the course here if you try to do something different or have some small measure of success, as Keith is too well aware.

However when we got back from UK this week  and heard that certain people had been slagging off not only us,  but our hard working, loyal committee for "creaming off" the proceeds, we decided that the time had come to stop ignoring it and to make a public announcement, particularly as one of our newer and most enthusiastic members has now resigned as they are so deeply upset and disillusioned by the malicious gossip.

We would by lying to say that the allegations do not hurt us - of course they do, but we have tried to develop thick skins and just get on with it.  Unfortunately some of our committee have never experienced such malicious gossip and it has really shocked them.  We really hope that your kind comments have now restored their  faith in people and made them realize that the vast majority of people genuinely respect what we are all trying to achieve and that it is only a very few sad and twisted  people who are trying to undermine everything.

A few of you seem to have an idea who the perpetrators are. I hope that whoever they are, they get to hear about this announcement and the upset they have caused. Perhaps they can then either choose to face us with their concerns and evidence or shut up and crawl back under the stone that they came from.

Again thanks to everyone for your lovely comments and full support.  You are all very kind. We hope that we can meet some of you at the Car Boot on Sunday to give our thanks in person.

I remember sitting over a drink on your lovely (ex) terrace and you both telling us about an idea you had had for the carnival- and now its a reality . Not many people can claim to have achieved what you have through hard work and dedication.

I've just spotted Pete and Chris "troodling" down the prom in a brand new Rolls Royce,towing a £5 million yacht with Hugh Hefner and the babes suppin champers.They told me they was off to pay for a five year residency permit,now come on,nobody can afford to pay that all in one go!!!must be summat innit...
