Here I am!
« on: September 24, 2010, 13:27:00 PM »
I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks, but couldn't get access to some of the message boards so I thought I'd better join up.

I've been on holiday to Ovacik five or six times and always have a really enjoyable time - I always considered that it's a great place for a break, but that I could never live there.

However, this year my opinion was changed during my recent three and a half week stay in August. I think it was because I spent more time speaking with Turks (at the Deep Blue bar in Fethiye etc.) and ex-pats (on the "Oasis" 12-island boat etc.). I still don't think Ovacik would suit me - it's a great holiday base, but it is rather touristy and it's far too close to Hisaranu (yuk!) for my liking - but the idea of retiring to Calis/Fethiye is starting to appeal.

Trouble is, I've still got a few years to go. With a bit of luck and good fortune I may be able to bring it forward by a couple of years, but in the meantime there's no harm in dreaming................

Cheers,
Ralph

Hi and a warm welcome to the Forum. I agree with your comment about touristy. My own prefernce is Fethiye itself ....a working town but close enough to get to any of the touristy places if the fancy takes you and also has easy access to more distant places if the wanderlust kicks in :)

Thanks for the welcomes - naturally I'm particularly flattered by the quick response of the boss himself.

As a newbie, I'll try not to make the classic error of asking questions that have already been flogged to death only a matter of days before.

Also, I'll make it a priority to try to avoid incurring the wrath of Mr Scunner by asking inappropriate questions - although I think the only sure way of doing that is to refrain from posting entirely. Mind you, I've noticed that in the past these instances do seem to provide a source of entertainment and mirth to some of the forumers with an evil sense of humour.

So, I'm off to delve into the forum some more and learn more about Calis in general and you lot in particular.

Cheers,
Ralph

I do seem to get a rough press don't I :D

All I ask is that people don't type in all capitals (which is quite obvious as nobody else does), ask their question in the right section (like moderator Legless didn't today) and obey all the other rules  :)

Oh, and don't join only because you have something to advertise.

Based on all those, you're doing great so far Ralph :D
