Spring 2011 Flights
« on: September 25, 2010, 15:31:57 PM »
Looking for help from you experienced out-of-season travellers. We are hoping to get to Turkey for early-April to early-June flying to Dalaman. Our best option would be to fly from Bristol but this is showing very few and/or very expensive results at the moment. Perhaps the complete schedules have yet to be listed? Would you suggest waiting until later - and how late would this be? Would it be better to book outbound and return separately? Would you book return from Turkey when over there? Any other advice?

Rather simpler question from my daughter who is hoping to join us for a fortnight at Easter (sometime between 6th & 23rd April) but the best flight she can find at moment from Bristol is approx. £550. Again, any help appreciated.

Last year I left from Dalaman at the end of December and came back at the end of January(although this was to Gatwick). There didn't seem any problem with flights. This year I could find nothing. I have ended up going with Lufthansa from Izmir via Munich to Birmingham. The return fare is £152. The flight time is about 6 hours; add to that the time to get to Izmir and from Brm to Bristol and you're looking at a long day. Sorry, that's the only thing I can suggest - have a look at Lufthansa.
Just to lighten things. My sister flew from Germany with Lufthansa to visit my mother (who was quite old at the time) a few years ago. My mother got things a little confused and told folks that sis was coming over with the Luftwaffe ( doing a little bombing and straffing on the way  :)  )

Early June flights are normally v cheap and there should be plenty of flights from past experience, so I would be tempted just to book one way and if you are able to get on-line once here you can keep an eye out for the June flights.
Easter flights are always expensive!

Colwyn, may I say that you might have "missed the boat". If you were after economical flights for April to June 2011 you should have been booking in May 2010.

Most helpful KK. Are you related to that fabled Irishman who always tells travellers he wouldn't set out from here.

Fran, the main TC website keeps crashing for me not allowing access to search results pages. I may be able to get in via a booking website.
