Capello wants Rooney to be fit for England next weekend, his problems outside of football has nothing to do with playing for England in fact it would be better for him to play, on that context and with Ferdinand dropped as club captain and Gerrard struggling with Liverpool.

What a great time to re-instate Terry as Captain! ;)

Oh dear andy, your pushing it now, you must be desperate, posting the same thing on here and facebook, whats Liverpool got to do with england ?,   even heskey is scoring for his club , Gerrard is a worthy captain of any club, so does that mean Rooney could be captain too, everyone is waiting for the News of the World exclusive on gerrard, for a long time now, and while it remains unprinted, I think Stevie is doing just fine as the england skipper, not that I am that patriotic, right now I would be happy with 3 points on my licence.just to see it.:P

of course it matters who's Captain, who was Captain of the world cup squad???

in comparison, how did we do when Terry was Captain? you need a driver, someone who talks to players and drives them on, ferdinand just mumbles drivel who isnt even a club captain now, and Stevie a greater player as he is, is the strong silent type who concentrates on his own game and leads by example, sometimes that isn't enough.

The only reason I mentioned Liverpool Moe is cos thats where Stevie is.

Well that makes sense, someone who talks to players and drives them on! well what about getting someone as a manager who can speak BLOODY english, instead of an italian who is obviously only in the job for the 5 million he gets a year from our stupid FA.[:(!]

I think Steve G has done a great job as Captain, a job that was thrust on him.  I particularly liked the way he has spoken so well to the press, he has never put a foot wrong and he was praised in many quarters for what he said. He did not, like Terry push in and speak out of turn.

I think Stevie G should have had the captaincy after Beckham was dropped. Steven Gerrard is a great ambassador for the sport.
